I am living in Ubon Ratchathani, and have had the need for some electrical installations, and also a vet.

 

I have a six month old Golden Retiever, who had a worm problem, so we took him to the vet at 7:00 p.m. The vet examined him, gave him a shot, and gave us two perscriptions of 10 pills each for Lucky (the dog) to take over the next five days. The total cost of the visit, and the drugs was 320 baht, or less than $10. I have had vet visits in the US that started at about $30 when you walk in the door.

 

The front porch on my home had only 1/2 with a roof. I had the roof completed, and discovered the need for two additional lights on the porch. The company which built te home sent out an electrical person, who added the two additional lights on the front oorch with conduit and two light fixtures that matched the ones on the first half of the roof. I also had two outside plugs with fixture nd coverplate installed, one on the porch, and one in the back yard expecially for electic lawn mower. The total cost including parts and labor was 2800 baht, or a little less than $90. I am sure the labor alone in the US would have been double the $90, and the parts would have been considerably more.

 

If the exchange rate doesn't crash with all this bailout etc. in US financal markets, then many things are quite a bit less expensive than the US, especially labor.

Here in Pattaya, I had an electrician come replace a defective outlet. It cost me 200 baht. In the US the part alone would have cost more than that. Just another good reason why I live here instead of in Bush-whacked country.

Your right about that. Adding a single outlet in a room for a building to be built will add a $60.00 to $80.00 charge (and I, buying retail, can buy the box and dupex receptacle for less than $3.00)! Now, if you hired an electrician here to come to your house to replace the receptacle, you'd be lucky to only have to pay $150.00 (or damn near 5000 baht!).

Another bargain in Pattaya!!!!!

 

My bf and I just came from the dentist. Both had checkups. Fortunately, I didn't need anything to be done. My bf has to go back to see a periodontist. They gave us each a tooth brush and toothpaste. Todays' visits for both of us cost 0 baht. Now, check what that would cost in US, even with dental insurance.
