A quick check on American Airlines for April and May discovered quite a few options for a RT ticket to Rio for just 40K miles. That is a bargain. If you don't have miles on AmericanAirlines, you can pick up a Citi Visa by AA and get that many miles just by spending $3000 in the first three months.

And then if you check on airbnb, there are quite a few apartments in the copacabana and/or Ipanema areas that can be had for less than $100 per night...

Add to that the going rate for Garotos in the sauna of 100 Reias per session (about $26 USD), and Rio is looking very do-able in early 2016. Just don't plan on anytime around August when the Olympics will be going on.
