Free Overstay Pass????

Featured Replies

I saw this discussion on thaivisa message board about a 62 year old American that was down on his luck. The title implies that he overstayed his visa and was granted a free pass. As it turns out, it looks like that is not the case. Some may find it interesting. Here is the link: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/Free-Pass-Ov...ay-t220827.html

Wow. Seems this guy has gotten into the idea of depending on others. At times I wonder what will happen to me as I grow older. Hopefully I will be able to keep my wits about me. Good luck to him.

While at the US Embassy in Bangkok, I observed some forlorn farang with hard luck stories.

One was young who claimed he lost his passport (for the 5th time) and was given a one-way pass to return to the US but no new passport. It seemed to me the kid was selling his passports for cash. Another, an older farang, was out of money and the embassy gave him some sort of "hardluck" form to submit in order for him to get funds and, I assume, a ticket back home.

Wow. Seems this guy has gotten into the idea of depending on others.

Maybe it is similar to American banks, insurance companies and car makers depending on the government and taxpayer’s money. AIG asking for more....only 50 billion dollars.
