In an anticipated first trip to Guadalajara, Mexico I  contacted 10 escorts from an internet site.  A month later I decided not to go and informed the guys of this.  Wirhin the next few days I received email requests FROM ALL 10 GUYS asking for me to lend money to them because of recent emergencies, medical crisis, family health problems, etc.  I was absolutely shocked by this!  Again, the requests came from not one guy but from all of them - unbelievable!!!  

I am glad I cancelled my trip and will have no contact with any of these guys.  I dread to think about what they would try to do to exploit money from me if I  were actually there.  

. Sounds like 1/2 the guys working at the saunas! I can't tell you how many grandmothers need heart transplants or kidneys when i am in Brazil! It almost reaches epidemic proportions! But evidently are avaiable for $300. - $500.R LOL 

Yeah they're 4th hand kidneys, that's why they're always asking.

They don't last more than 1 or 2 weeks...poor grandmas...

@brall3 : I believe that what you described is fairly common.  Usually, it is not 10/10 but, I've been contacted numerous times by past companions with pressing emergencies.  I experienced no problems while the guys were with me in country as they were getting a free vacation by accompanying me.  However, once I left the emergencies seemed to appear out of no where.  This has never dissuaded me from traveling and meeting the same guys again.  Just be sure that they know you are not an ATM and don't want a long distance boyfriend

When these requests occur at times I am present in Brazil, I offer two things.

 

The first is prayers to Nossa Senhora of Whatever.

 

The second is assistance for legitimate prescription medication accompanied by an authentic script. Most afflictions require some form of drug treatment. I trust the local pharmacies to assess what meds are state- subsidized. I tell the appellant I cannot cover total health care costs but will consider pharmacy fills in my neighbourhood.

 

In the first category I already periodically climb on my knees up the 102 Gloria Hill steps to the church (dated 1733), in thanks to Nossa Senhora for the existence of 117 a few blocks northwest.

 

In the second category I have yet to have an appellant follow through, though I have had an appellant respond that, yes, he would engage with providers and me to organize the meds cost coverage.

Your actions, bobbalino, seem very sensible to me. Anyone who is genuinely in need of help for a true emergency would happily comply with your stipulations.
