If You Are Stranded in Pattaya and Need Some Help, Read This

Featured Replies

I posted this as part of another post I wrote in a different thread. In case you missed it, I'm re-posting here, so that those of you stranded in Pattaya are aware that help is available. I'm sure others who live in Pattaya will try to come to the rescue too if you are stranded and need some help:

_____

If any readers here are stranded in Pattaya, I have a car. If you need any help, all you have to do is contact me and I'll do what I can for you. Just send an Email to me at gaybutton@gmail.com . That's the quickest way to contact me. If you have a telephone number and let me know what it is, I'll call you. If you don't have a phone, let me know that and I'll reply to your Email with my number. If you need any help, once you have my number feel free to call me at any hour, day or night. I don't mind that at all, even if you have a need to contact me in the wee hours. It's not a problem for me.

Your offer is very generous GB. I also want to let people know that the 2000 baht offer for those stranded is for real. As was explained to me today by a British couple who went to Utapao, there is a form that you fill out and give to the hotel you stay in. This form lets the hotel get reimbursed for your room and food.

In the case of this couple they each get a form so together they would get a credit of 4000 baht. Alcohol will not be paid for. There is a limit of 14,000 baht per person on the program.

Has anyone actually filled out the form? Would you be able to give a better explanation of where to get the form or other details to help those who do not have the information?

well, TAT also have a hotline/info line to call so they can give information on this program and help stranded people. The number is 03-253-5500 x1701 and I also see the number 1672 being advertised.

I would guess that hotels should have these forms to fill out. I asked at the place where I am staying and they say they do not have instructions from their management company. I will talk to the front desk again tomorrow.

I was stranded in BKK when I couldn't fly to Vietnam to start 2 weeks of sightseeing. When I checked out of my BKK hotel this morning, they informed me that they "were not participating" in the TAT program. I paid the bill in full. The hotel is the Bangkok Courtyard by Marriott near Ratchadamri.

I have moved down to Pattaya for 6 days at the Marriott Resort and Spa for a change of pace.

It easy an easy 1:45 drive via Image Limo.

The lack of reliable info in this situation has been amazing. THAI Airways has disappeared; impossible to reach by phone.

Thai Airways does have a ticket office in Pattaya, located at the junction of North Road (Pattaya Nua) where it curves into Beach Road. You might try simply going there. I understand the office is open. I would suggest that you try to be there either right at opening time or right near closing time. I would imagine they are extremely busy during the day. I don't know if they are extending their office hours.

The same, by the way, holds true for the Immigration office. A friend was there yesterday to do his 90-day address report. He went in the early afternoon and said it was utter chaos there, mostly with stranded tourists concerned about over-staying their visas. I would advise getting there either very early or very late.

I've un-pinned this topic. I think most people who need any of the above information and/or intended to contact me has done so by now. However, my offer to help anyone who needs it still stands and will stand until everybody stranded has managed to go home.
