I will be headed to Koh Samui for a few days that I wasn't really planning on but it just happened to fit my schedule.......well, it more fit the airlines schedule but that is another story.....

Anyway, I already have a place I'm staying at that I feel like I stole. I booked the Penthouse in a little funky gay place called Akwa Guesthouse through www.latestays.com and got it for 1100 baht.

Now, since I know very little about this island having done almost no study about it....do any of you guys have places you like to eat, go out and see on this island?

What are the best web sites for reading about stuff on the island?

I will be going there for the first times Dec.13 for just 2 days as I won a free room for 2 nights through leading hotels of the world.

 

I was surprised at the cost of a flight to Koh Samui on Bangkok Air. This is the only airline that flies there from what I can find.

I suggest going to the Sawatdee Forum ( http://www.sawatdee-gay-thailand.com/forum/index.html ) and doing a search for "Samui". You'll find that a lot of people have posted a great deal of information.

I met a guy in a bar that had been to Ko Samui several times. He was with a long-time boyfriend and said if you go to Samui, it is best to bring a boy with you.

No, I am sorry. I have not had the chance to go back to Samui again even though there are now direct flights from Malaysia. I've been out of Asia on writing assignments, ill off and on, too busy and more often than not, too broke to have the kind of holiday I want in Thailand.

Thanks for the links. I had no idea Koh Samui was so big.

 

One thing I could not find is the distance from Bo Phut to Chaweng. I was planning on get a motorbike and someone said it would take over 30 minutes to go from Bo Phut to Chaweng. I am not sure this is true because the person who told me has never been there.

 

Can anyone help? I have Googled and looked at the links but can't find distances.
