December 6, 200817 yr The newspapers yesterday were full of comments from organisations who lost vast sums of money due to the closures, saying they will sue the PAD for zillions in losses. I for one reckon the responsible parties are the government and the Airports Authority of Thailand for completely failing in their duty to have proper and effective security in place in the country's essential transportation hubs. This is especially true following the earlier takeover of Phuket airport. But a second comment concerned me more (I did not note down the full details and so hope I have this more or less correct). A THAI spokesman claimed that the airline would be unable to claim against its insurance since it has no "disruption of business" insurance. Going on from there he added that its terrorism insurance covers only damage to equipment and not to individuals - and the total payable on that policy is only US$5 million. So if a TG flight is affected by an act of terrorism, destruction of a $100 million plus plane would result in a 5% payout - and if you happened to be on that plane, your dependents would receive precisely nothing from TG's insurers! In this day and age, I find this shocking. Am I nuts, or is this nuts?
