Bangkok Fire Wasn't the Only Fire

Featured Replies

It came close to happening right here in Pattaya. A fire broke out at the Central Festival (Big-C shopping center) in North Pattaya. Fortunately, no one was hurt.

Rather than reprint the story, I am providing the link. There are plenty of photos:

The most frightening part of the story, in my opinion, is the part that mentions there is no fire alarm system in the shopping center.

This is sheer insanity.

If anyone died in a fire in this building, I assume the charge against the owner will be 'murder'. Is this just a case of the grasping hand of corruption?

I heard from a friend who was watching a movie in the cinema at the time that the first they knew was when some rushed into the cinema shouting something in Thai. The Thais got up, but most of the farang just kept watching as the film kept rolling.

Wasn't until my friends boyfriend had translated and shouted FIRE that they started to move.

No alarm, no tannoyed announcements.
