Beating a dead horse

Monday I took a friend to meet with his lawyer and a government official. Of course the meeting was confidential but there was one thing I heard that made me believe many more guys may be sitting on the wrong side of the jail house door.

This local government official had a stack of arrest warrants for people that have been accused of sex with a minor.

I am amazed that all it takes is one underage Thai to file a report with little or no evidence and the police can get an arrest warrant. I can give you an example. The warrant said it was for an "old, fat and bald westerner" "who took (Thai name) to his room for sex." No name, no picture, just a boy's statement.

Now, I can't read Thai so I am relying on the Thai lawyer here.

Evidence seems not to be as necessary as the money needed to "pay for a crime."

And while the police are wasting time with this trivia, they could be enforcing the smoking ban in bars.

Maybe someone can start filing reports reading "I saw a fat bald westerner smoking in a bar."
