low season lower than low?

Featured Replies

Can I get some opinions on what low season, around June /July will be like in the Pattaya gay areas?

Do you think i would have to book accomodation ahead?

What about prices?

I remember going in low season a few years back, only to find less guys and less variety.

Will this low season be any different ?

How could anyone possibly know that? None of us have a crystal ball. We won't know until the time comes. All anyone can do is guess.

As for booking ahead, that is always recommended. What reason would you have for not booking ahead?

Usually i like to stay my first night at the Ambience hotel, mostly because my flight arrives late and they have a very reliable car service, then after a night there,i like to look around for places to stay, usually you can get a discount if you meet face to face.

Im thinking a lot of people would not be going this year with the recession so it maybe lower than low.

With that it could mean less boys etc,so it has it good sides and bad sides.

There obviously will be less people, but maybe more less than usual.

maybe bars will be closed as was my last visit during low season a few years back.

This year so far, some bars have done well and some have not done well at all. Usually the gay sector is not hit as hard as other groups. But whoever is effected may need to cut back.

Every low season there will be less boys at the bars, so this year won't be different.

You may want to contact a few hotels and ask the question as they have a better idea of how advance bookings are going.

A very sensible question & I hope you get some more constructive advice.

Normally I like to book well ahead, but did find it quite easy to make short notice bookings during PEAK season in December.

Now if you must have a specific hotel, book ahead, but if you don't mind being flexible last minute low season bookings should be fairly safe.

Even if you don't care about a specific hotel, I can't imagine why anyone would avoid booking a hotel, at least for a night or two. For what reason would someone come to Thailand, a major long-haul trip, and then start looking around or a place to stay? What would someone write on his arrival documents when he gets to the part about his address in Thailand? 'Unknown?' 'I don't know?' 'Don't worry, I'll find something?'

Book the room. You could always cancel the booking, but at least have somewhere definite to stay upon arrival.
