July 1, 200917 yr Yesterday I caught an ad on Thai TV about a new internet service. I didn't understand it, of course, but when I went to Lotus on Thepasit, lo and behold, there was a kiosk there promoting it. It's called True Online, claims to not need a telephone line, has speeds up to 8mbps, and free (for 3 months) wifi connections throughout Thailand. All this for under 600 bant/month. the rest of the brochure is in techyspeak and I can't understand exactly what they're offering or how the connection is delivered. Calling their info line yielded 15 minutes of music after being told by some English speaking Thai service rep to hold the line. I gave up. Has anyone here any experience with this service? Does it do what it claims? Is it available throughout Pattaya or only in wifi hotspots? Any info would sure be appreciated because the internet service I now have sucks big time.
July 1, 200917 yr I read an article about it a few months ago when I was first considering getting rid of TOT. TRUE's plan was to WIFI this area by the end of June. They had done it in Bangkok a few months earlier and first reports were that they were pretty successful. I have not seen anything to the contrary. I could not wait to change providers because my service was an abomination, so I switched to BTV where I get my TV. But I subscribed on a monthly basis @1300 a month so that I could switch if TRUE turned out to be a success and BTV was a dud. I just re-ordered for the month of July so I'll be looking into TRUE in a couple of weeks. Thanx for the heads up.

July 2, 200917 yr When I was in Thailand in February and March I had my iPhone from the US with me and I noticed TRUE in the upper left hand corner of the screen, replacing the AT&T logo. Since I was not familiar with TRUE and didn't want to incur any expenses, I just used my Thai flip-phone and got a new SIM card. Maybe next time I'll check in to TRUE instead. My iPhone has become an extension of my hand! Bob CA
