Apparently there are still some message board program glitches that need to be fixed, especially on the moderator side. For example, I see that the " Thinking outside the box" thread is locked. I didn't lock it. I don't think any of the other moderators locked it. I don't see anything in any of the posts that should have caused any of us to lock it.

 

Usually, when one of us locks a thread we explain why or at least explain why to the other moderators. If nothing else, we normally at least post that we have locked the thread. None of those happened this time.

 

I have no idea how it became locked. Even with my moderator status I can't get into it to unlock it. I tried, but no 'unlock' choice appears on the moderator options list.

 

There are a few other glitches in place as well. If you encounter any problems, please let us know.

And here's another annoying feature.

The little green + and the red - signs at the bottom of every post obscures the last line of every post. Can the program be rewritten so that these red & green signs are a little bit lower?

They don't obscure on my screen.

Sorry guys. I don't think those are glitches. I think perhaps GayButton that you don't see the icons in the side of each thread that I see. Or, it may be a permission based issue and once a thread is locked only an Admin can unlock it. I will check on this next week.

 

The other comment about the bottom of the threads, I am not seeing this. I have tested on Mac Firefox, Safari, Opera and on PC IE, Firefox. Can you give me the exact configuration you have so I can test this?

It is not a board glitch. It is an odd choice (or mistake) by the programmers who designed the site. I have sent a request to them to find out why. It appears that moderators can move a topic to the Moderator area or lock a topic. But, they can't open a topic that has been locked. An admin has to do that. Again, not sure why this is but I find it odd as well.

Actually not a glitch at all. It was set by default for Moderators not to do this. I had edited the permissions for Moderators to be able to Lock Topics. I forgot to click the button for them to Unlock as well. OOPS! Also, GayButton, was able to fix the other issue you were having. Now, that is 2 for 3. Anyone else having any issues?

Ok, I managed to unlock it, but I had to do it the hard way. I can click the Open Topic button, but I still get the same error. I can do it now, though, by going outside the thread and opening it from the main forum topic list. That's fine. As long as I can do it at all now, I'm happy.

 

There you have it, folks . . . If you find a topic locked, you'll know I could have reopened it, but didn't.

It's the same for me. I don't have any idea why gay_grampa's appears like that. If there is a way to get it to line up horizontally, rather than vertically, I can't find it.

 

Better still, I don't even really know what that "0" icon is even for. It says "reputation." I don't know what reputation they're talking about or why it would even be important to anyone, but there it is. Voting on whether you like a post or not? I don't see how that would make any difference to anyone and very few people are using it. If that whole three-icon set could be removed entirely, I think that would be an improvement.

Hi. I talked to the people in the programming community who also work with this board and they said it is a resolution issue. That means that the resolution of your screen is too small to fit. I am not sure what your display is set to. Are you using a laptop?

For what it's worth, my screen resolution is set to 1024 x 768 and works just fine.

I am using a desk top computer, not a lap top.

I use windows xp and Internet Explorer.

Resolution is set at 1440 x 900 It's a LCD screen, 41cm wide x 26cm high, made by Acer, model No. P193w. It's worked very well up to now!
