September 2, 200917 yr this seems to be another step in the thai governments movement to reduce foreigner influence I'll wait to see what the increase is first, but I suspect it is much more a revenue generation issue than attempting to reduce foreigner influence. Governments everywhere are hiking prices: e.g. a new UK passport now costs about 60% more than it did 4 years ago. I also think companies wishing to employ foreigners will continue to do so and pay up, unless the rise is really astronomic. Where a major rise will hurt, tho', could be foreign-owned small businesses.
September 2, 200917 yr Thai Visa report that massive increases in work permit fees are being discussed and most likely will happen. If you're a work permit holder I wouldn't worry about it too much. If I had one baht for every time Thailand was discussing something, but nothing ever came of it, I wouldn't know what to do with all the money. I learned a long time ago: Don't worry until you have something to worry about.
