Anyone been there?

I'm always leery of going into a place when I have no idea what the prices are.

I see they have a special on Wednesday's, bottle of 100 Pipers including all mixrs and ice for 750 baht, but wondering what's the everyday price for a beer?

There are 2 things I really hate about a karaoke-bar:

- the people who think that they are good singers and start singing louder after some booze

- the surprise when it's 'check-bin' time; everything, and I mean really everything is charged for: ice, coke, soda, even if you buy a bottle of 100 Pipers with mixers.....

I haven't been to a karaoke bar in ten years. I don't enjoy them. But based on the two posts above I have a question: Do you have to buy an entire bottle of whiskey in the karaoke bars? Can't you just order individual drinks?

Of course you can buy individual drinks, but if you're going there with your Thai partner, you'll see that within 30 minutes the 2 of you are accompanied by: the DJ, the waiters, the wish-notes collectors, the doorman, the cashier and so, a bottle is better.

Where is it written that you are under any obligation to start buying drinks for the DJ, the waiters, the wish-notes collectors, the doorman, the cashier? Please tell me which karaoke you go to and when you will next be there. That way I can show up and let you buy drinks for me too . . .

Gaybutton - Karaoke - Singing............. Oh I pass even if you do buy the drinks

john

I know what everyone says about Asians and karaoke singing...but I am Asian and I have always wondered if putting "karaoke" and "enjoy" together isn't a bit of an oxymoron.

It's written nowhere, but it seems to be some kind of daft unwritten 'rule'; in a karaoke bar you always invite the staff who is serving you......of course there are 15 people around that suddenly are serving you.

Sure it's another rule, made up by daft Thais........going out with an even more daft farang :ninja:

There is a word in English I suggest you teach them. The word is "no."

Damn........."No is an English/Old English word indicating rejection, disagreement, refusal or making a negative response or exclamation. In most cases, it is the opposite of yes." (Wikipedia).

Thanks GB!!
