At 7-11, get a 1-2-Call SIM for 50 baht. It includes 15 baht of credit, so you should also ask for a 100 or 300 baht top-up card.

1.assuming you are now not in Thaild-first check when back here-it may still work.

2.yes, any 7/11 sells them-dozens a day. needless to ask.

3.there are many packages-not just the 50 bt mentioned. Note that it may often pay off to pay a slightly higher rate/min and get much longer time-on the low rates you often have to use a minimum amount/day or use the fone at least weekly or so.

Would you mind clarifying what you said here? I can't make sense out of it.

Alternatively:

1 PAYG tariffs have such wildly different pricing plans it's quite difficult to work out what is the most economic, unless you have a precise understanding of your own call use profile. And that's in my home (UK) market.

2 Considering the picture in Thailand: All the tourist REALLY needs is a cheap SIM card that's preferably still valid when he returns 49 weeks later & still offers some value for calls.

Now if someone knows a card that offers this AND is widely available, please share the details.
