August 11, 201016 yr Thai Visa today had a thread that said many are experiencing Torrent Failure. Apparently ToT has blocked access to torrent files and sites. Has anyone experienced this?
August 11, 201016 yr Has anyone experienced this? No. Mine works just fine. As a matter of fact some of what I have been wanting has actually been coming in much faster lately.
August 12, 201016 yr The ThaiVisa piece specifically referred to folks with a TOT connection ........ I have TT&T and mine work fine ....... called a friend who has TOT and his VUZE downloader works fine with torrents from some web sites and not at all for torrents from other web sites ....... sure hope TT&T doesn't follow TOT!!!!!!!!!!!
August 12, 201016 yr There's definitely something going on but I don't think it's about torrents. Wednesday night there was very little throughput on the CAT international links. This morning Sophon Internet is completely down, but my TOT ADSL is working fine with pretty good connectivity to the US. It's a holiday but probably all will be normal by noon.
August 12, 201016 yr What on earth (or in the sky) is a torrent? I would have asked the same question a few months back as I didn't understand it until someone explained it to me. Torrents are the files that people download that have current TV Shows, old movies, etc. You use a torrent program (like Vuze or UTorrent) to download the files and then view them on your computer. My understanding is that torrents reach out to others who have the same file and pick up bits and pieces from all of them. In order to do this quickly, you need a fast download speed. You also need to be careful what you download as some may carry viruses. I download tons of stuff from ITunes. The difference is I pay for it and Apple streams that movie to me from their server. Torrents are free and they don't stream from their server but from thousands of other users around the world.
August 12, 201016 yr I have noticed that EZTV.it has been down all day. Don't know why, but it is unusual for them. Vuze is working fine, though.
August 13, 201016 yr Yes, EZTV was down for me all day Thursday, but is back up this morning (Friday). Believe it or not, the original thread on ThaiVisa about this issue has now gone on for 24 pages!!!!!!!!!

August 13, 201016 yr Why would you need beer in order to download torrents? I am confused. No need to be, it was a bad joke (and indicative of my lack of familiarity with torrents). Of course, drinking lots of beer does produce torrents of something....
