August 15, 201016 yr If you are still friends with your ex, do you feel obligated to show him a good time on his Birthday? What do you do for him?
August 15, 201016 yr Wish him Happy Birthday and call it a day. I agree. What does your ex do for you when it's your birthday? As a matter of fact, what did he do for you before he became an "ex"?
August 15, 201016 yr If you are still friends with your ex, do you feel obligated to show him a good time on his Birthday? What do you do for him? I can't imagine you even remembering all your ex's. I guess it certainly helps when you're computer savvy! LOL

August 16, 201016 yr Goes right along with his BIG HEART. Guess it depends on how the break up went and if the friendship endures???
August 16, 201016 yr I can count on one hand the number of exs I am still friends with, so if you have still salvaged a friendship I think that's fantastic. Those friendships are something very special and not worth damaging. I tend to agree with lvdkeyes though, although I may add a modest gift. Doing something more has the potential to blur the lines of friendship and muddy the waters, and in addition, IF for example either of you has a new BF, your kind intentions could make his or your current BF feel mildy uncomfortable. I know my current BF would probably feel a bit sad and/or hurt if he knew I was doing something extra special for my ex's birthday, and make his mind wonder how deeply I love him compared to my ex. The new BF of your ex may also find it very sad and hurtful if he felt his paramour was having something extra special laid on by an ex. So, I guess for what it's worth, my advice would be acknowledge the birthday, but keep it short, sweet and simple
August 16, 201016 yr If your ex lives close by you could always take him out to dinner with a few of his friends, just to make sure he has a nice time on his special day. Be sure to include your current BF so there is no jealousy. A nice gift would be appropriate, but nothing that would eclipse what you'd give your current BF. Staying friends with an ex is always a good move and something that can enrich both of your lives. After all is said and done, you have some history to share. Hopefully, your ex has a new beau and he should also be invited to the celebration.
August 16, 201016 yr Where I live, it's not exactly common to take your friends out on their birthdays. Partners yes, friends no. If you are fortunate, your ex is a friend, but taking him out on his birthday seems over the top. Has he taken you out on your birthday?
August 16, 201016 yr Be sure to include your current BF so there is no jealousy. Lol. For most people, including the "ex" and the "current" would likely mean a bloody war! I've actually been able to stay friends with a couple of "exes" but, given they are "exes", I don't do their birthday and they don't do mine.
August 17, 201016 yr I see nothing wrong with taking the ex out for a meal to celebrate his birthday. If you are still friends and the current bf doesn't care, go for it.
August 17, 201016 yr I have stayed friendly with all my ex's. I have never had a breakup that cost me the friendship. I also don't mind spending a bit of money for someone who I know appreciates it and doesn't have the money to spend on their own party. I don't go overboard with anyone and normally spend the same amount for each ex IF I am in town and know about the event. I am forgetful so they usually try to remind me.
August 17, 201016 yr I stayed friends with an ex for four years after the sex stoped. He was good to go shopping or bowling or a movie and was always there to help if I needed it. I always made a fuss over his birthday taking him out for new clothes and giving him some baht so he could go out with his friends. Have lost track of him and wonder how he is.
August 17, 201016 yr If you are still friends with your ex, do you feel obligated to show him a good time on his Birthday? What do you do for him? I think it is great to still be friends with all of your ex-bfs. A birthday meal is a nice reason to see him again and catch up on the news in his life. Although a nice gesture, I would not feel obligated to show him a good time on his special day. Your ex's current bf would be the person obliged to take him out.
