Chatting tonight with another Sunee Bar owner...

he said that Memories Bar is now closed.

 

I walked by Memories, and sure enough, it is closed.

No sign..just closed.

 

Maybe it is in respect and due to the untimely death of the new

Ladyboy bar which opened Monday night,

next door to Memories, only to have its owner die

of a heart attack early Tuesday morning at the bar.

 

Another sign that business is slow, slow, slow...

per the owner I talked to tonight.

 

LET'S HOPE HIGH SEASON GETS HERE ...

It certainly isn't good business to just close. They should at least provide a sign with reason and/or reopening information. Some business sense is really needed in some of these cases.

If I had a business and decided to close it permanently, I certainly wouldn't worry about putting up a sign of my intentions. What's the point?

But a simple sign on the closed gates saying

"Thanks" might have been appropriate too.

 

It must have been a difficult decision as well for the owners...

having put forth their best efforts..

 

They were very much hands on...

only to be denied success largely due from the economic

recession which has rocked the world...

from which they have become another one of its many failures.

Do we really know the reason they closed yet or are we just jumping to conclusions?

My Information is, even though they have been long time friends, they have decided to go separate ways, and what is the point of running a bar where they have to put their own money into it many months, to pay the bills, you are suppose to make money not spend it.

Well, the "thanks" isn't necessary, but at least a notice saying you've closed is courteous.

Friday afternoon...

 

Walked passed Memories...

Saw all the furniture, air conditioners, and chairs

being loaded into a truck..SOLD to some furniture co in Pattaya.

 

So much for the Memories...

and Monty...better find another location...

which is "turn key" vs having to equip it to open.

They bought a shop that had a great customer base. The owners of the shop they were buying retired from the business and I assume the new others expected that the customer base would stay put. After a period, the former owners opened up another bar in the area. I think many of the old customers gravitated to the new Oud's bar.

 

Lots of times in Sunee, places keep the customers because of the owners or the location. There are few locations that are great. It seems to me that the only way to keep customers is by being that unique owner who attracts them consistently. Oud is one. Many people are going to beer bars to chat. People that go into gogo bars do so to Oogle at the boys. Conversation is secondary in gogo bars and thus the personalities are not as important.

 

I thought the owners of Memories were nice guys. It must have been hard competition for them during the recent down-drum of the economy. I wish them luck in whatever their new adventure is.
