A few years back I was on one of those Samui-PhanGan speedboats on a full moon night. Eight dead, Gulf of Thailand. Not my boat but similar boat, same night.

The speedboats from Samui to KPG are dangerous on full moon night. If one must ride on a speedboat, my guess is sitting outside is safer than inside.

 

If staying on KPG, but not in HadRin, don't take your motobike over the HadRin hills at night. Either stay in HadRin or take a songthew.

I think so, they get overcrowded on full moon night and also some of the captains may be drunk.

 

I prefer ferries. There are ferries from Samui to both HadRin and Thongsla. I doubt that ferry captains will be drinking on the job.
