The very camp TV show Glee cleaned up at the Golden Globe Tv awards.

 

Chris Colfer who plays the openly gay student won best male supporting actor has dedicated his win to the gay kids who are bullied at school.

Glee and Boardwalk Empire were the big TV winners at this year's Golden Globes.

 

Glee - Fox's popular musical show about a high school Glee club - was named best TV comedy at the Beverly Hills ceremony. Cast members Jane Lynch and Chris Colfer made a clean sweep of the TV supporting actor gongs.

 

Chris, who plays openly gay student Kurt in the show said: "To all the amazing kids who watch our show and the kids who our show celebrates who are constantly told 'no' by the people and their environments, by the bullies at school, that they can't be who they are or have what they want because of who they are, well, s***w that."

 

Jane, who plays over-the-top cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester, said of her gong: "My cup runneth over," adding: "Really, and I am nothing if not falsely humble."

Congrats to Glee for their success. It is an entertaining diversion and it is great to see at least some originality on broadcast TV, especially one that actually has some decent portrayals of gay characters and interactions.

 

lonleywombat: You may wish to edit the thread title to be more clear. To my understanding, Chris Colfer has not confirmed his sexual orientation as gay.....You might have meant to say "actor who plays gay character wins golden globe"

Colfer is openly gay[10] and shared on Access Hollywood that his parents were accepting of him but he was frequently bullied at school.[4][11][12] He originally auditioned for the role of Artie with the song "Mr. Cellophane"[13] but Kevin McHale was selected for the role. However, the casting directors were so impressed by Colfer that they wrote the Kurt Hummel character into the show as a vehicle for him.[4][13] Colfer commented on his casting, "It's good to have something positive, especially for kids in small towns, like myself, who need a little pick-me-up."
