I know these are important Buddhist holidays but does it mean that all gay venues will be closed on Friday and Saturday? An Australian friend is flying on on Saturday and he wanted a night on the town in Pattaya. Is anything likely to be open on the 16th?

dear khun FH-you live here long enough to know that its never a case of all or nothing. The only proper answer is some yes, some no, and if yes-restricted-no alco sale. Also go-go and/or shows might be restricted in amounts of nude flesh shown. Have not been to PTY since a few yrs, but from reports understood that compared to BKK they seem more strict there-the gaybutton mostly has advance warnings about this.

(best friend tells me that his bar appears closed, but will open doors to those they know with anything going inside as usual-and as regulars know that and also know a lot of bars are restricted, they get more custom and tips for the occasion as on normal days! TITs, I guess.

I was in Soi Twilight the night before the election. All the lady bars on the Japanese Soi were closed. Twilight bars were open for business. I asked if we could get whiskey, they said of course.

 

I assume this is the difference between 100 baht drinks in many lady bars and 300 baht drinks in the gay ones?

Well you can always go to MONTYS BAR CAFE, he will be open as usual, Howards roof top Garden Bar will be open and may be a few of the Host Bars open in Sunee Plaza so after all the restaurants are closed your still have some where to visit.
