I get your point about all the lying that anyone at a microphone has to do to service in the Trump administration. All these people who become brainless minions, it's embarrassing to watch them grovel.  However, I have to say Karine Jean-Pierre did a poor job for the Biden administration. She was slow on her feet, and I never got any sense of her being genuine.  She wasn't smart to enough to have that job.  And with her whiny after the election loss book - sister, you are only looking out for yourself, and it's obvious.

My takeaway, too.

And I'll say another thing that runs aground of DEI, too.   Kamala Harris should stay out.

I actually figured she would run for California Guv.  Nixon and Trump were two amazing "rose from the dead" stories in US politics.  I thought being Guv and running for POTUS after 4 years as Guv might be Kamala's rebrand story.  But I guess not.  In 2028, she is just Biden Revisited.

More specifically, she said something just now about how the system is broken, and she wants to work outside the system.  Which more or less gives Republicans great material for attack ads in 2028 if she does run.  If the system is broken, who broke it?  Biden, perhaps?  If you want to work outside the system, why run for POTUS?

I'm really stretching the topic here.  But that is an interesting video of which Democratic potential candidate passes certain litmus tests.

I personally like the AMLO test.  The one Halperin uses that maybe comes closest is the "fire in the belly" test.  Which he says Klobuchar and Buttigieg rank at the top of.  What Halperin says "fire in the belly" means is they have to really want the job.  I agree that Klo really wanted the job.  But that was the problem, in part.  All those stories about staffing problems did make it sound like it was all about her.  Pete came closer to laying out a vision of "us".  But I'm not sure.  It seemed a bit too much like "friendly Gay woke bureaucrat" to me.  But he is young.  And I think he could be even better second time around.  Maybe.

The AMLO test to me is more like "fire in the party".  Who can lay out a vision of what the Democratic Party should be that deeply inspires people?  Clinton did.  Obama did.  Both got two terms.  AMLO did that in Mexico.  He started a new party, and redefined what politics does for working class people in Mexico.

That is what we need.  I have no clue who that person is.

But, as you say, it is not Karine Jean-Pierre.   She did the job, and wrote a book.  Same old same old.  Nothing wrong about it.  But nothing inspiring.

We need fire.
