Can anyone recommend a reliable, English-speaking lawyer in the Pattaya/Jomtien area who can help me with my proposed move to that fair city? and assist me in replacing my UK Will with a Thai one?

A good friend has recommended a lawyer who he regards highly in Pattaya. He did give me his card but, at the moment, I cannot find it! But I will look further and will ask my friend for the name. Sorry I cannot be more helpful at the moment.

Sorry i cant help with the name of a lawyer, but my understanding is that unless you are selling up everything in the UK and moving your assets lock stock and barrel to Thailand, then you need to have both a UK and a Thai will to cover both jurisdictions

I highly recommend Thai888 Law.  The owner is Australian.  His name is Kelvin.  His Thai paralegal staff is quite competent and they speak English.

The office is on the ground floor of the View Talay 5 condo, Building A.  Enter the building, turn left, and the office is all the way down the hall.

I had them make my Thai will.  The fee was 6000 baht.

I was truly pleased and I think you will be too.

Avoid the Kevin idiot, he is an antivaxer.

Actually his name is Kelvin, not Kevin.  I have no idea whether he is an antivaxer, but suppose he is.  What does that have to do with his legal service?  He also has a charitable organization and his service includes concrete help if any of his clients eventually get dementia or Alzheimer's.

If that makes him an idiot, I'll take his idiocy.  Do as you wish, but I am very satisfied with his work and any time I need legal work, he is the man I will be consulting.

Hi Gaybutton,

Can you expand on what I quoted above?

I also used Kelvin for my Thai Will and I was very satified with his consultation and the work if his team to execute the Will and related Thai beneficiary(ies).

I am interested in the dementia information, as my mother died of dementia - as well as her mother (my grandmother) and now my mother's sister (my aunt).  My doctor told me to be alert about the hereditary possibility to follow in my mother's footsteps.

Thanks.

No.  Very sorry, but you know him and you have his contact information.  I suggest getting that information directly from him, not from me.

Londoner, here is the info my friend provided regarding a good legal office. He has used this man for 25 years and claims he is excellent; he and his staff speak excellent English.
