October 28, 200619 yr I having a problem myself. I'm planning to quit my job next week, this means losing my incentives - including my current apartment, along with everything nice. Can some one guide me with the following problems that I'm going to have soon? Your advise/ thoughts/ comments is very appreciated; 1. How can i get direct phone lines in Bangkok? I know it's either TOT or True, which 1 is better - and how much deposit is required? 2. Internet access. Can a foreigner w/o work permit apply for broad band internet. which ISP should I go to? I'm considering TRUE - since it's quite affordable. I'm really trying to predict my cost for setup realistically. I'm going to be jobless for a couple of months, so, I want to be prudent.

If you become dissatisfied with their service you can always cancel them and try another service. Your Bangkok apartment probably is already wired for a direct line. Whether it is or not, your building manager or landlord should be able to tell you where to go to initiate the service. I cannot comment on whether TOT or TRUE is the best choice. I know nothing about TRUE. The deposit is minimal, only a couple thousand baht.

Is it true that I've to pay a subscription fee for my direct phoneline, like 500THB p/ month - whether or not I make a phone call? I'm thinking of a 2nd number, because, I need a fax machine for my network of self-employed commitments. I was looking at TRUE, since, many expats speaks well of their service (including customer support who speaks good english) Even though it's not neccessary. But I want to go down the scale for a few months, untill, my new income source is stable. Damn!
