The award was presented at a ceremony held earlier this year, reinforcing Thailand’s reputation as a top global destination for LGBTQ+ travelers. Deputy government spokesman Anukool Pruksanusak stated that the award reflects Thailand’s welcoming and inclusive environment for LGBTQ+ tourists. Factors contributing to the recognition include the passing of the Equal Marriage Act in January under the government’s policy, as well as the presence of LGBTQ-friendly hotspots in major cities like Bangkok, Pattaya, Phuket, and Chiang Mai.
