I'll always remember one of his funniest jokes, but cannot recall where or when I heard it! He had proposed to the lovely actor Anne Bancroft who had said "Yes!" He then had to tell his very Jewish mother he would be marrying a Roman Catholic. She accepted the news, at first seeming to give him her blessing.
