His narcissism must be off the charts.  A woman who won his fucking Nobel Peace Prize can explain Important Stuff and inspire people in ways he can't.  How fucked up is that?

Although if this Trumper Politico interviewed is right, addled or senile Trump doesn't even really understand who Maria Corina Machado is.  This is not me calling Trump addled and confused.  This is an expert from Trump 1.0's Administration saying Trump is confused.

Nicolás Maduro from today will face international justice for the atrocious crimes committed against Venezuelans and against citizens of many other nations. Given his refusal to accept a negotiated solution, the United States government has fulfilled its promise to enforce the law.

You know I hate to be a Debbie Downer, and, Maduro is not going to face International Justice.  The odds that the Mad King is going to have Maduro transferred to the International Criminal Court in The Hague - zero.  More likely, there will be some sort of military tribunal where the Mad King will attempt to have maximum political influence on the process and outcome.  Is there anyone out there who doesn't believe that it would be the fever dream of this Mad King to have a public hanging in his new ballroom?

Trump has just threatened Maduro's VP, who is "acting" Presidente of Venezuela, telling her that she WILL follow the "wishes of the U.S.,  OF ELSE !

He said yesterday “she’s essentially willing to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great again.”

Right around the same time he didn't know who Machado was or confused her or what not.

I mean, no one is perfect.  But obviously if Trump and Hegseth are in the lead there is a brilliant plan.  I'd say a 12 out of 10 plan.  Or an A+++++++++ plan.

It really does take work to make George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and Don Rumsfeld look like master strategists.  But Trump may have done it.

As always, Politico is doing a masterful job of reporting on breaking news.  This piece that asks lots of experts to weigh in is particularly helpful. 

If there is any consensus yet, it is that nobody knows how this is going to turn out.  The sad thing is that what would weaken China and Russia the most is a thunderous and successful return of democratic capitalism and prosperity to Venezuela.  Which is possible, and desirable.  And it is what Trump seems to care about least. 

He did not mention "democracy" in his press conference.  "Oil" flowed easily off his lips.  As you note, Sis, as in, "it's ours."  So the other main outcome Politico's panel describes is that this will piss off most allies and enemies alike.  And it could backfire, helping Russia and China.  Several experts, including conservative ones, are saying Ukraine and Taiwan should be very afraid. 

Wouldn't it be ironic if we add Venezuela to Afghanistan and Iraq as losing exercises in US regime change, even as we lay the groundwork for China's regime change in Taiwan?  Or any other Asian nation.

Sadly for the piece of shit dumb fuck, the same is true with the oil riches he so badly wants.  A true businessman, if Trump were one, would understand - well, business.  What that Politico article says is what I have now heard again and again by any expert talking about oil.  Commercial development of oil in Venezuela will takes years even under the best of circumstances.  And the best of circumstances depend on long-term stability. 

Which is exactly what Trump, being Trump, can not offer.  In fact, he is offering confusion and doubt.   Trump already set the tone.  The new leader and Maduro-lackey of Venezuela will work with us.  We don't need that Nobel Prize Democracy Woman, whatever her name is.  I know better.  If this other lackey won't be my lackey, we'll take her out, too.
