Jake Stick Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I’ll be in Egypt later this year and I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for hotels in Aswan and Luxor? The Old Cataract and Winter Palace seem to have the best reviews, although both are quite expensive (especially the Old Cataract in Aswan). I’m guessing it’s better to stay on the mainland (East side of the Nile) in both places? Quote
Daniel Posted January 15 Posted January 15 For Luxor, I'd recommend the Iberotel Luxor. The staff is unobtrusive, the breakfasts are excellent, the pool is great, and everything is very clean and safe. Situated at the very beginning of the Corniche, it's very convenient for walking. McDonald's, Luxor Temple, and restaurants for every taste are nearby. All the action is right here. I had a room facing the road, it was a little noisy, but it didn't bother me at all. In Aswan, I stayed at the Hapi Hotel. Despite its popularity with Europeans, the facilities there are very-very average. I wouldn't go there again, although all the entertainment is close by. In both cities, it's better to stay on the eastern side; they're more lively and active. The western parts (including Elephantine Island) fall asleep in the evenings. khaolakguy 1 Quote
Jake Stick Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Ok great, thanks for the reply! I’ll definitely look into the Iberotel. Good to know about the Hapi Hotel in Aswan, I’ll avoid that one specifically but I’ll try to find another hotel in the same area. Quote
