And he and his wife spent plenty of social time with Trump and Melania. So he knows them up close and personal. I have heard what Christie said from Republican family members and friends and acquaintances endlessly. We don't like Trump. But we do like his policies and issues. But now Trump's greed and racism and ignorance and LACK OF CHARCATER is the issue. And even Republicans are starting to have to admit it. Trump is destroying the farms of the farmers who voted for him with his tariffs. Trump is destroying the factory jobs of the factory workers who voted for him with his tariffs. Trump is destroying the chance Hispanic men who voted for him have to buy a big ass truck thanks to his tariffs. Let alone a home! All these Republicans will be flushed down the toilet this Fall. Not because they are racist, or want to destroy the working class, or lack character. Because Donald Trump is a stupid piece of shit who lacks character. I can't wait until Democrats can flush this piece of shit POTUS down the toilet and remove the massive stain of shit he is putting on America. The thing they have in common that is a positive is the idea that the working class should not be left behind. If nothing else, Trump (who for much of his life was a Democrat) has forced Democrats to recognize that if you abandon your working class base, you no longer have a base. Trump was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and wants to pretend he is a blue collar billionaire. Vance is the opposite. He has hillbilly roots. And he wants to pretend he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Where it all goes bad is that they really have no policies for the working class. There is a sentiment, for sure. But JD got rich and powerful sucking up to Silicon Valley types. And those are the people getting the tax cuts, and the government contracts. It's an inside game. Sure, they will throw "no taxes on tips" in. And pander to the anti-choice and pro-gun crowd. But it's not a government by and for the working class. If Democrats can reimagine what a 21st Century version of an FDR New Deal coalition looks like, JD and his ilk will be toast. We have plenty of viable models. Newsom has done a California version of it well enough. Beshear has done it in Kentucky. Those two probably represent the ends of the ideological range that could win. AOC or someone like her may take a run at it. But I don't think there is a Democratic Party majority for democratic socialism. In NYC, maybe. But not in America. Not yet, for sure. There is no question that White resentment channels into this, when you are posting memes of a Black POTUS as an ape. That said, I still like @lookin's warnings from years ago the best. There is a certain percentage of any population who are happy and even thrilled to be authoritarian followers. And it works on the left as well, as Chavez and Maduro proved for a long time in Venezuela. It falls apart when it becomes clearer and clearer that you can't deliver the goods. You either then become a repressive regime, like Venezuela, or you get booted. Trump would like America to be Venezuela. That is our test. Hopefully, both America and Venezuela come out of it as democracies who give freedom and prosperity to their citizens. But don't hold your breath Sis.
