There is one thread that got entirely out of hand on this board and the rules of the forum were broken by more than one long time poster.  This is not acceptable and all members must feel safe in posting on this site and not feel they will be attacked or ridiculed.

Yes, Jomtien retired.  It had nothing to do with the policies and running of the board. It was a personal decision and was made with no discussion with Scooby.

 

Actually, the decision was easy, given the generous retirement package from the prior owner, Michael. I get to keep half my salary, with a cost-of-living increase tied to the cost of a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label; a health care package including liver transplant if needed; and unlimited access to any and all of Michaels ex-boyfriends.

 

I can't remember why I stayed as long as I did!

Well technically that's not true. There's one moderator, Scooby. According to the list at the bottom of the page, the moderating team consists of:

 

1 Scooby.  Who has not been active for almost 3 days according to the list.  Well, not active as Scooby.

 

2 Various Admin IDs, who have not been active for a while.  

I do not recall any of these Admin IDs ever admitting to moderating & moderating has recently been done entirely by Scooby and Jomtien.

 

So I guess we need to use the REPORT button to alert Scooby, as requested in the opening post.

Well, technically, let me tell you that you never know who is a moderator on a site and who is not unless their primary group is set to Moderator.  Anyone can have Mod permissions but their primary group is set to Member and thus they do not show on the list and you don't know who they are.

 

Now, why would anyone want such a thing?  Lets look at the history of the Gay Thailand message boards and see those that are openly moderators and often times are given hell not only on the board but in person by other people.  One example I'll use is GayButton.  When he was a moderator on this board, his friends gave him a hard time based on him not banning certain posters. They didn't just PM him on the board, they did it at dinner, etc. Who the hell wants that kind of shit?

 

Having run hundreds of boards in my life, I would always recommend to anyone on this board if they wish to be a moderator and are asked to help out that they do not do it under their own screen name they post with.  This is just something I came to realize over the years and not something I have known for 10 years.  However, that is a recommendation I make only on this board and other gay Thailand related boards. On these boards many people are known as they walk down the streets of Sunee or Boyztown, etc. and it makes it hard for them if they make a decision that others don't agree with. And, as a mod, you always make decisions that someone doesn't agree with. It is the nature of the job. 

 

For Admins, they can also log in anonymously.  I know this is shocking to some but it is an admin option. I am not saying that Scooby is using that as I don't know and I have not talking to him in weeks. But, I do know it is an option.  So, don't come up with conspiracy theories just yet.  I do know two moderators check many times each day as I see them online often.
