June 3, 201412 yr Duc of Duc's Bar has been found dead inside his bar in Sunee. I know nothing if the details but he was a heavy drinker and smoker. He was a good friend since 94) and always my first stop when going out for the evening. Sunee will not be the same without him.
June 3, 201412 yr Some details of his passing are posted on other forums. I was chatting with him about a week or two ago and he was in fine spirits at that time. Sad to see another icon of the Plaza leave the scene.
June 3, 201412 yr Sad to read this today. Duc was a true character in the Pattaya scene since I have been coming to Thailand. I had more than a few drinks and good conversations with him over the years. He will be missed.

June 16, 201412 yr Service at Wat Chai was yesterday. Duc's bar in Sunee was open last night and looked Very busy with same faces from years past. I was told about a hundred people showed up at the Wat. A fitting memorial.
June 16, 201412 yr The memorial service was well attended by both farang and Thai. Sadly, no words of tribute were spoken or eulogy given. It was touching that a number of Thai lads acted as a guard of honor as Duc's body was consigned to eternity.
June 16, 201412 yr In retrospect, a rousing rendition of Waltzing Matilda would have been a fitting finale. Here's to you Duc!
