  1. What a timely topic As it happens my BF of nearly 8 years is joining the monks for 4.5 months this weekend He reckons that it will cost 45-50,000 all in for the: -Temple/Monks/Books -Clothes -Food -Drink (a conservative 3 cases of Blend 285 plus mixers) -Stage Hire + Speakers -Show hire -Table and chair hire (240 guests expected) -Invitations -Flowers Tents, cutlery, plates, glasses, and cooking utensils have all come from the temple Labour is provided by the village boys... knowing that he will return the favour when its their turn In fact he's in Arranyaprathet right now buying sea food from the market there The 45,000-50000 is just to get the party going... As guests arrive they will make small contributions (20/40/100B) and this money will be collected and put towards re-stocking food and drink I have 12,000 contingency money put aside for when the initial seed 45,000 runs out... he is woeful at budgeting and always underbudgets He has sent out around 200 invitations (family don't get invites) Including one to me... but i am unable to attend. Yes its all for show but it is what is expected of him... especially as he has a farang... and its something that we have been putting off for years. His cousin's parents spent 100,000 for him to go to the monks last year and they barely have clothes to wear... Seeing as he will be in the temple for 4.5 months I won't have to send him much money every month for household expenses. He also will not be visiting Ireland this year...so the initial outlay for the party will be easily recouped before he gets out.

    Happy Boys go go

Took a boy upstairs 3 days ago... they were still charging the 150B then... In fact they have the bill/receipt pre-printed so they can stick it on your Bin before you go upstairs!

Panai: The decoration of a bar and the look of the boys working there can be subjective and up to an individuals taste. Lots of guys there to my taste too... However if a place stinks of Piss ... it stinks of piss... That is a fact that can not be subjective! I thinks its something to do with there being no door (that i know of) between the toilet and the main bar And no amount of air-freshner can cover up that smell...

Had A-Bomb in there but accidentally removed it in an edit! Besides that the place smells of Urine!

Just to clarify the last point above... The mamasan knew he was only 16 and procured the ID card for him. That was back in 2000 before i met him. It might not be as easy for an underage boy to work in Boyztown now... but it could still happen

Sorry to be pedantic, but.... Boystown only consists of PattayaLand Soi3 Therefore Boystown is: 3 Beer Bars (Oscars, Serene, Panorama) 4 Gogos (BBB, Copa, Funny Boys, ToyBoys) 3 Massage Places (Buyz Gym, Body club and what ever Scandic is called these days) Pattayaland soi 2 is: 2 Gogo bars (Bubbles, Wild West) PattayaLand 1 is 6-8+ Gogo bars (Dreamboys, Starboys,Kawaii Cupidol, Lucky 7, Sawatdee Boys, Dynamite? X-Boys?) 1 beer Bar (is Gentlemans club still open?) 1 Massage (Narcissus) And of course vasa gogo between PattayaLand sois 1 and 2 So yes... there are more Gogo bars in the PattayaLand area than in Sunnee But Boystown itself has less gogos And as I have often pointed out on these forums before... my BF was working in Boystown at 16... so you can't always trust the IDs there either!
  7. Some pics of Phase 1 of BFs house below Note that this part of teh house had no kitchen or internal toilet I reckon this phase cost ~400,000B Its had to tell as it was built over a number of phases: -Initial foundations -Sails (supporting Columns) and Roof -Walls -Window and door frames -Plastering The family moved in at that stage... Boarded up the windows and various holes to the elements Next phase was putting in the doors, tiles and windows Following that it was the Actual Glass in the windows, Painting and Ceilings Finally the electrics (Thai Style ie. not hidden cabling) Was it worth it? Well ultimately it was one of the main factors in hm getting his first Irish visa... so definately worth the effort and money!
  8. I have paid for my BF to build a house (and a subsequent extension!) on his land in Buriram The initial 100,000 that your friend menations above would barely even pay for the foundations to be made for the house! The general rule of thumb is that a house costs 6000B per sqm So the 100K house will be 16sqm (12 ft by 12 ft) First step in building any house is ~100 trucks of soil to build up the height of the site... A good builder will then leave that soil 6 months to settle before starting to build on it At 400-500B per truck - at least half of the budget is blown already! Its quite cheap to throw up a house with bare blocks and a tin roof after that The expensive parts are the finishes: -Plastering -Painting -Ceilings -Electrical install -Doors @1000B each -Windows @1000B each for teh wood -Glass for teh windows -Tiling (price depends on the grade) -Sanitary ware (farang toilet costs a lot more, as does a real sink versus concrete box) -Paths around the house -Electrics (circuit breakers, Switches, sockets, Light fixtures) -Gutters + drain pipes And don't forget the party with the 9 monks to bless the house i think 500,000 is the cheapest that you would get away with for a reasonable size house with: 2 small bedrooms Living room Indoor bathroom Outdoor Kitchen and Terrace And that pre-supposes that you own the land already
  9. count me amongst the Songkran Lovers too! 5 days till I leave Ireland for the Soakfest!
  10. HI GB Thanks for taking the time out to Visit Black Cat Disappointed to hear that it is not a "real" sauna/bathhouse! To be honest I don't really understand what their business model is... Seems like they are a massage house... with sauna facilites.. If thats the case I don't understand what the Thai boys will do that enter for free?! I remember a post from a while back that Ganymede were also opening a sauna soon in The Complex.... did anyone hear any updates about that?
  11. Looking forward to your report!
  12. Hi GB Is Black Cat a sauna for hooking up like Sansuk or babylon Or is it simply a sauna for relaxing (like the one in Body club)
  13. C'mon GB who are you trying to Kid? Traffic on Sukhumvit flies past at 100++KmPH Traffic on any of the pattaya Beach/2/3rd roads goes by at a fraction of that An accident on Sukhumvit will invariably result in death An Accident on the main Pattaya city roads will result in a trip to hospital... but not death as frequently as on Sukhumvit Before you ask I don't have any stats to back up my point - but I think its pretty damn obvious! Even my Thai BF won't even drive on Sukhumvit as he is so scared of the the traffic!
  14. I'm not sure Nicholas would be impressed to hear that he is being called a Ladyboy! You are correct in that the bar has changed hands twice in the last year... Nicholas the Tall young Farang guy sold it on... And now it seems that Louis (previously of Tai Boys, City Boys, Gacuya etc) is now the owner...
  15. Sansuk Sauna has some White Russian rent boys plying their trade there (Or so I have been informed!) Actually I'm not sure if they are actually plying their trade... or just hanging out there with their customers/sponsors... But they are rent boys in their home countries

    Day Night area

It is a traditional Thai Massage place... The 1st time i went there back in November the guy started smoking me (much to my surprise) and i asked him to stop (he was not my type) 2nd time i was there 10 days ago the cute guy kept brushing against my "member"... once it was sufficiently awake he whispered "you want" to me... A rudimentary handjob (with some additional groping) ensued I would never have considered this kind of thing in a curtained non-private room...especially as I was looking for a real massage after a difficult evenings bowling the day before... but it was the boy who initiated the action both times

    Happy Boys go go

I went upsatirs with a boy last week... Before we went up he clearly explained that there was a 150B charge (we both had had 1 drink at that stage) When we got upstairs the boy sat me down in a semi private area... 30 seconds another boy shouted "excuse me" and came running up the stairs with the 150B bill for upstairs..he then went back down After that my chosen boy dimmed the lights and some more private action ensued... Action was limited to oral... but I'm pretty sure things could have gone further given the boys expertise! Of course the biggest mistake I made was taking my no.2 choice upstairs... Don't know why I didn't just invite my No.1 choice... guess it was cos he asked me where my BF was!!!!

    Day Night area

Also had a very happy visit to Relax@Me during my stay earlier this month... Spotted a really cute looking guy outside and went there praying that he would be the one allocated to me! Luckily he was... and a great massage followed... BF was very jealous afterwards! Unfortunately I never saw him again after the massage... even though my room in Mosaik overlooked the shop.... Would have like to try the take awya service!
  19. I'd bring you some from Ireland... Except we only have Canadian Spring Soap here! (BTW I'm joking - have never heard of any such brand over here in Ireland!)
  20. I think that the opening of Dave, NAB, X-ray and their ilk effectively killed off BBB and LCRs late night trade over the last 3 years... So many familiar faces are seen in the late night discos these days(even Toi and El duo!)
  21. I notice a lot less boys on Gayromeo for the last 2 weeks... i put it down to the bars being busier and there being less need for them to go cruising for farang at night... Hi Buckeroo Just curious... what do you do at night if you don't visit the bars?
  22. Could it be the fact that there was a hint about money and you never picked up on it? Hence no reason for them to keep in contact with what they considered to be a stingy farang? Anybody who goes to DJ everyday is either: A Millionaire An Alcoholic An ex-moneyboy that has a farang/thai sponsor A Moneyboy
  23. Around 6 years ago the Irish govt started charging a tax of 15c (30THB) per plastic bag This went up to 22c 2 year ago No matter what - i could never persuade BF to re-use or not to take a plastic bag when he goes shopping here... it seems to just be against his nature The tax is going up to 44c (88Baht!) PER bag later this year.... There is no way in hell anyone will continue using plastic bags at that price!
  24. Hi GB Thanks for reposting he phrase book Much appreciated Will Save it down for study on my next flight!
  25. Hi GB Back when you ran the old Gaybutton site - you used to have a page that listed out simple words and phrases in English and their Thai Equivalent I used to regularly refer to that list in my early dats of visiting Thailand Now that my Thai vocabulary has improved - i'd be interested in seeing how I am doing against the old list... However i seem to have mislaid my copy Do you still have the list to hand? I'm sure there are lots of newbies(and not-so newbies!) out there that would benefit from this list Thanks in Advance!
