Rio is pretty much like any other country... city in the world...if you look like an easy mark, you will be targeted... I have never had any problems and I am almost too American when it comes to the beach situation...I take a book bag that has my flip flops I change into on the beach and stash my magazines, snacks, water and towels there...Ill then change out of my shorts and tank and put that into the bags....I have never, never had any problems in Rio.... What I will suggest regardless of what you choose to take it be aware of your surroundings at all time and try not to appear like a tourist.... You want to be as comfortable as possible so you should be able to take things that may you comfortable.... Try to surround yourself either with other families on the beach OR station yourself near police....Ipanema have police very close to the beaches

Great feedback.....Cuba is still not on my list until it get a little more developed/touristy...If Brazil and Dominican Republic are both developing countries, I can imagine what Cuba is like... I especially like your feedback about your difficulty finding the "Americanized" Cuban foods we enjoy in Miami....

What in the world did you eat and drink that ended up being $200 US? Or maybe the question is HOW MANY guys did you wine and dine....that is a lot by Brazil standards for a full evening out of drinking and eating.... Glad you had the time of your life though.... For some reason, the more I go to Rio, the less I tend to spend...I have noticed the trend over the years....when I first started traveling I would spend hundreds of dollars...My last trip in Oct/November I spent a lot less than I had actually budgeted for....

Just go to the saunas....better than any strip club unless you just want to see guys actually dancing...you can touch most of the sauna boys and it bypasses you wasting dollars tipping... Brazil is not the US so they do not have any mall strip clubs...most of the mall dancers that perform at the saunas are straight...they may play for pay but they are more straight than the guys who are actually working in the sauna....

Prices will vary based on the guy....time of day...how attractive you are and how badly they need to make money....The hottest guys are always going to be in demand and seldom lower their pricing.... A few guys started off at $200R....A few started off at $150R.....They always start high but you can negotiate.... I paid one guy nothing....One guy $80R.....One $90R and the one I really enjoyed the most and hope to see a few times in December $100R plus a pair of sexy underwear that he looked amazing in....

I'm an early riser that usually needs little sleep but Im getting older so staying up until 4 and 5 am is not something I like to do on the regular....If I get up past 10 am I feel like I have already missed a lot.....

To sum up this trip...It was amazing.... Day 1- I decided to take the bus to Copa versus a taxi....very nice, air conditioned bus....much cheaper than taxi....Just longer....It took me about an hour and a half After showering, I hit the beach....weather was beautiful....got an amazing $14 massage and saw some eye candy... Went to both 117 and Pointe on Thursday...as always, 117 was the busiest.....large variety of garotos....muscular, very in shape guys....maybe 25-30 guys... Had some fun with a big booty, muscular latin looking brazilian....very hot but not the best when we got behind closed door... After being overwhelmed by so many guys and clients...I decided to go to Pointe, around the corner from my hotel.... Definitely a different atmosphere, much less busy, different type of garotos....more guy next door, still hot, maybe 8-10 guys total while I was there....Found a very attractive black guy...21 yrs old...amazing body and dick....I had him model some underwear and we had a great time....Looking forward to seeing him again in December as I did not see him again while I was in Rio.....
