I only mean that forum had a greatly higher quantity of higher-quality conversation under HooBoy's intelligent, light-handed management than under daddy's totalitarian, pointlessly ham-fisted, essentially witless style of moderation. And that I think the decline in quality of participation, and the steady departure of longtime substantive participants noted in a post above, is direct evidence of the chilling quality of his moderation style. I deeply appreciate your thoughts expressed here. But you entirely miss my point: The past is dead. It cannot reach out to bother us any more. Therefore leave it behind. Invest all your own actions and thoughts and emotions only in the future. Forget, and forgive. The Gospels got it so exactly right.

Thinking back, I agree this accusation seems not that big a deal, given context and everything. Back in the '80s, most of us young things found it rather a compliment to get a friendly grope under the table from an older gentleman in Boston's alas long-gone Napoleon Club. (A place rather like The Townhouse, back in the day at least.) To be sure, Takei's reported 'assault' went further than that, but still seems like not that uncommon an occurrence back then, from shenanigans I recall hearing about from friends.

Do you have a point? Chemsex participants do it out of their own volition. There are certainly questions of their mental health, and what, if any, public health response may be warranted. Given finite means. To conflate this serious issue with that of power-driven sexual assault on unwilling, unequal victims is astoundingly wrongheaded.
