Just finished a 3-day stay in Pune, based at the Conrad Hotel, where I was upgraded to a spacious suite — easily one of the best hotels in town. Great service, Excellent Executive Lounge and pool, a comfortable base to unwind. Arrived in Surabaya in the afternoon, about 30 minutes late, which seems to be standard for Batik Air. I flew business class, which is not exactly glamorous, but for these short domestic flights in Indonesia I still think it is worth it. Lounge access, extra luggage allowance, dedicated check-in, bigger seats, first on, first off, and your bag actually comes out early. They also somehow manage a meal service on a flight that is not even an hour long. It also left from the city airport, which was much closer to the hotel, and security was easy. Jakarta was my first stop, 5 nights, arriving from Tokyo on ANA business class after a 9 hour layover there. I had used the layover to go try one of the Japanese escort agencies I wrote about in a different post, so by the time I boarded I was very relaxed and spent so slept like a baby through most of the 7 hour flight.
