  1. Long engrossing interview with Francis: http://www.americamagazine.org/pope-interview
  2. Think I would have them insert the cardiac catheter and ready the streptokinase beforehand.
  3. Sully said it rather strikingly (from memory): "Over the years I had made many deposits in the bank of experience, and fortunately when I needed to make a very large withdrawal, it was there."
  4. As with the adverts to lose "up to 25 pounds" providing we realize as Monty Python says that "up to" clearly includes the number "nought."
  5. (Medical secret: it works great, except for those cases where it makes the symptoms worse.)
  6. And shoe tree
  7. That certainly made religion and science more connected for me!
  8. A most inauspicious year.
  9. LOL You should have specified "99.4% frontal."
  10. Scat yet again! "...it all comes back, except one tablespoonful."
  11. Agree absolutely.
  12. By this criterion, a majority of my posts here over 7+ years should be deleted. If something is of enough interest that someone is moved to post about it, that's enough for me. In fact the breadth and variety of subject matter here is a strength and appeal of the forum, as I experience it.
  13. The herpetologist, possibly, in my case.
  14. Grateful for all the good wishes. As for avoiding the situation, I didn't mean to go to it; it came to me. I had traversed that block hundreds of times in 28 years of living there before, with no trouble. Suckrates (my sympathy for your own mess in Queens back when) seems right on both points -- crime is random, especially in dense urban environs, so what to do short of staying home? The hunky bodyguard suggestion does have merit. Of course if I ever disappear again, lookin's fear illustrated above should be seen into. Seek for me in some dungeon of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, as MsGuy has warned me of, more than once.
  15. The full code of which expression by hito triggers which drink is in here: http://www.boytoy.com/forums/index.php?/topic/14263-warning-guys-contains-pussy/
  16. The privilege I enjoyed was to be in the wrong part of Boston's Chinatown at the wrong time of day, or rather night, apparently. Shortly after my last post here, four gentlemen materialized out of a dark alley and kindly relieved me of my cell phone (sole means of Internet connectivity) and laptop. The small knife one of them discreetly displayed dissuaded any notion of resistance. Fiscal realities being what they are, it took til now to replace the goods. But, missing no vital anatomical parts, I can't complain. It does seem a bit rich that I could spend 1.5 years stumbling comatose around Manahatto at all hours unscathed, then lil ol Boston is where I get bit.
  17. Whoops, one or two or three things intervened to distract from finishing this line of thought. I had completely forgotten the Sark appelation. Lord Carteret was the one more used in Caroline. Most grateful. The relevance of my original post (vain notion!) is only that he was the grantor to my forebears of their little tobacco-bearing (much later marijuana, but that is a different tale, involving the eventual drowning of the nervous potentially tattling wife in the property's pond, but those light bagatelles can wait for a fuller recounting here) patch of the Granville District.
  18. He is. I will, and do. You know we will have an eternal lovers' quarrel in the afterlife if you don't sooner or later let me into your britches in this life.
  19. That certain Judeo-Christian hyperthyroidism of the pseudosoul?
  20. With RA1 on this 100%. If you don't like it, don't do it. But prescribing and proscribing others' private behavior and "mode of life" -- Senator Sam's oblique but respectful euphemism for homosexuality, and other non-normative but benign behaviors -- is to be done with the utmost trepidation. Methinks.
  21. Somebody told me a couple of hours ago at an all-night diner in Boston (no relevance, just scene-setting ) that every one of us H. sapiens is at least 16th cousin of every other. My 5 watts or so of mentational capacity are not right now up to checking this out. But it sounds plausible.
  22. Doing it pressed up against someone else, the warm flow on skin in the cold ocean, has its points too. Or I should say mutually doing it.
  23. So this is not about scat either http://www.nps.gov/caha/historyculture/movingthelighthouse.htm
  24. Well. Ahem.
