  1. It would be nice to see the Arts forum thrive, but even at the other site there were three days with nothing posted, and that forum has been around for a while. (PS: I note that I have posted a lot tonight. Sorry about that, but I guess I am looking for something to do because my novel is not holding my interest.)
  2. I would hate to think that anyone would be offended if a post ended up in a forum where it might not fit best. That would be taking things a bit far. What I welcome is the information in the post. For me, the Arts forum should be about art, but the definition varies as we well know. So as long as the post shows a general respect for the intent of the forum, I would prefer to see it posted rather than not.
  3. MsGuy, do you really live in a mobile home? Here's mine:
  4. Kevin Zegers was so cute in that movie. All across America gay guys were drooling. And it was a good movie, too!
  5. Having seen the movie, I can agree that it does a good job of showcasing a bad situation. But I wouldn't recommend it to anyone as I can think of so may ways to spend time other than watching a movie about a sad situation.

I'd be surprised if there was anyone who enjoyed commercial flying anymore. First or business class may ease it somewhat, but the hassles of airports and security remain. Every flight seems so crowded, everyone seems to be carrying on as much as they can, flight attendants seem harried, and there are lines for lines. It's a means of getting from Point A to Point B, but no fun whatsoever.
  7. Nice of you to notice his absence, lurkerspeaks. I too hope that he is okay. We met once when he was visiting Palm Springs and I enjoyed the meeting. The nature of anonymous posting leaves the possibility of people leaving the site with no notice or any chance of us finding out what happened. I hope that we hear from him soon.
  8. Oh. Thank you for the clarification. I, for one, welcome your return to the forums and would not want to be responsible for that changing.
  9. The author Ruth Rendell, writing under her pseudonym of Barbara Vine, is trying to describe how handsome a character she is introducing is: "The first thing anyone would notice about James was how handsome he was (sic). Not like an actor, because actors aren't necessarily good-looking the way they once were...Clark Gable and Cary Grant and James Stewart and Gregory Peck, were all stunningly handsome and, when amalgamated looked like James." That didn't help me at all in figuring out how handsome the character is. James Stewart stunningly handsome? I didn't think of any of the 4 as "stunningly" handsome. So, what is stunningly handsome? And how do I amalgamate 4 men? (The reason that I put "sic" after "was" is because if he is dead it might be hard to describe him as handsome, and she shouldn't be tipping us off that the character dies...if he does, I haven't read that far!)

Townsend, thanks for the link to thepointsguy.com. As you point out, using points takes work, and good advice can make it easier.
  11. I did a Google search before I posted to be sure that I was not in error myself. Shows you how well that went.
  12. I agree with Tomcal. Thermas Sauna is a wonderful, fun place, and Barcelona a great city to visit.
  13. Tomcal gives excellent advice on this subject.
  14. ...and Lucky starts with a capital L. If my correction of your error was in any way nasty, I would understand a response such as yours. But I, for one, don't mind if someone corrects a mistake I make. I assumed that you would prefer to know too, but sometimes I guess wrong. We all make mistakes.
  15. Excellent post, tomcal. Thanks for sharing this beauty with us.
  16. A masseuse is a woman. A masseur is a man.
  17. Sorry to double post this. It seemed to take so long for the post to go up that I thought I had lost it.
  18. Why do you think so? She has to prove damages, and I don't see any.
  19. R. J. Ellory is an author who appeals to me so much that I ordered his books from London when they were not available here. His first novel to be available here was A Quiet Belief in Angels, and was just a terrific crime story. A Simple Act of Violence and Saints of New York were just masterpieces of crime fiction. Ellory lives in England, yet places his stories in the US with such fine detail that you would think he was native to the area. I told all of my friends of his books. Now I learn, rather late, that he had to apologize for writing reviews under a pseudonym that disparaged competing authors. Why? Why would a man of this talent stoop so low? His novels are still brilliant and well-worth reading, but another man I admired has gone down into the dust. Yes, we keep getting reminded that everyone is human, but this one really bothered me. If you are looking for something good to read, A Quiet Belief in Angels is superb, as are any of his novels except his first, Candlemoth. 20. Tel Aviv is in Europe, no? Not Africa. So why is this in a gay Africa forum?
  21. If I met rimchair in real life, I might find him to be an interesting and likable guy. But the rimchair who posts here is getting tiresome with the constant digs at Noah. Is it not time to move on? I came to this thread to read about a plane, not to hear one more dig.

Isn't it amazing how fast, and how often, the fares change? Sure would be a bummer to pay the higher fare and them learn it went down. Confidential to FourAces: Thanks for your concern! All I meant to say was that whenever it happens, I don't want to leave any unused miles!
  23. Let's hope that more happens. Maybe he will crack it open!
  24. Thanks for the report, firecat. Since I know the area, i was able to go along with you in my mind, even on the baht bus! It's a fun time that many guys here would enjoy. Sure, it's long ways away, but that adds to the mystique. One forgets that long flight as soon as you pass customs. And the trip home is three hours shorter, so nothing to worry about!
  25. A very kind response. I like that you offer to be of assistance.
