  1. Oh, I found it! here it is: Posted last year: As the $1500 poster child, OK, one feels sufficiently chastised. But to the point: any of our participation here is tied to all kinds of other, not necessarily related life vectors. But which do affect desire/motivation/time to post here, as they affect so many other life pursuits that we chase with verve during more normal times. For me, divorce, rocky business transition, and trying (not too well) to navigate a complex of psychopathologies all conspire toward anhedonia (what Woody Allen originally wanted to title Annie Hall). Back when and as one can. Love continues meanwhile. *** You failed to mention that videos of Boo Boo Stewart could get you back as well! He sure is a doll. If I had $1500, I'd hire him! That could be quite a life vector!
  2. Please provide a link to the comment made several days ago. I remember one several months ago...
  3. High cholesterol has been my unwelcome buddy for many years now. I hate the drug Lipitor since it caused severe pain in my calves. But, I had to take it. So, I took 10mg a day even thought that is a low dose. When the leg pain would have me screaming, I would stop for a week. Then, earlier this year, the doc switched me to Crestor, but only two days a week at 20mg. My cholesterol numbers plummeted and I have little calf pain. For the first time in years, I had a normal level. All of this is to preface new warnings today from the FDA on statin drugs, whether Crestor or Lipitor or a generic. It seems that they can cause memory loss and confusion. Given that older folks tend to be the ones taking them, this is no small matter since we don't need any more help to forget things. And I am always confused! besides muscle pain, it is thought that these drugs can increase the likelihood of getting diabetes. Yet Big Pharma seems not ready to rest until we are all on statin drugs. So, start with your diet, and then exercise, and see if you can avoid these drugs altogether. Reading this article may encourage you in that direction: Article on Cholesterol Another medical study in the news yesterday was on the dangers of long term use of sleeping pills. (You die earlier.) Don't get me started on how dangerous Ambien is. I have stopped it altogether. Article discussing Danger of Sleep Pills
  4. Once upon a time, a review site held a contest, and awarded the winner $1500!!! Not such small change, eh? So today I was surprised to see the winner of that contest make a cameo appearance here on MER. Perhaps he was contemplating entering the current contest? Maybe that $1500 is spent!
  5. I did have another thought on this, and that is when someone dies, especially a young person, we do need to allow a time for those who knew him or her, especially family and friends, to grieve. Perhaps listing the cause of death at the time is thought to be a deterrent from proper mourning. And it is a fact that if a person takes his own life, there are plenty willing to second guess his choice. So, when it is a time for grieving, it is not a time for second guessing. So, maybe I disagree with what I wrote above. In time all facts tend to come out, but when some are grieving, there is no hurry to provide more details that could detract from proper mourning for the loss of someone we loved or admired.
  6. For example, EXPAT is leading at 1391. and then I would start another post for JKane's tally, etc. etc. etc.
  7. Thanks, Lookin. You have just given me a legitimate way to increase my post count. Instead of listing the results in one post, I could give each person his own.
  8. Yes, necessarily the count is only accurate at the time I looked at people's post counts. I am also up 8 posts since the count.
  9. I have been told that I look like a well-known actor, but since I don't see it myself, I won't say who! (No, not a young pretty boy!)
  10. Since the contest began, this is how I picture EXPAT:
  11. We seem to be mourning the young this week. The NY Times reports today on the death of a young man who had roles on some TV shows before dying an early death at the age of 35. If you think your life is tough, well, read on. Neil Hope "grew up in the 1980s before an audience of millions as a star in a pair of gritty Canadian television dramas, “Degrassi Junior High” and its sequel, “Degrassi High.” "Mr. Hope had few secrets left after his five years in the role of the troubled teenage character Derek (Wheels) Wheeler. The show’s producers admitted all along that the story of Wheels, a boy who stumbles through misfortunes before drifting into alcoholism, drew broadly on the life of Mr. Hope, who never had formal acting training." And in 2007, Mr. Hope died, so alone that his death has just now been learned about by his family. The article linked here is worth reading, as the tale of a young man who plays on TV for five years and ends up dead at 35 is thankfully an unusual story: He Died Five Years Ago
  12. Had I started this thread, I would have put it in the Buffet or the Lounge. It seems odd that someone's death makes the pornification forum.
  13. I don't know my porn stars, so have not heard of this person. Nonetheless, it is always sad when a young person takes his life. At Daddy's, they are mourning a man called Spencer, who also died last weekend. Not sure at all that they are the same person as here, but we are told not to inquire as to the cause of death for Spencer, which, to me, only makes people more curious. We are expected to care enough to feel bad that he has died, but not care enough to wonder how. It's very odd. Usually the cause comes out anyway. Some time ago an escort died and the same thing happened- don't dare ask why or how. It turned out he had an asthma attack and did not have his emergency inhaler. Is that something to keep a big secret? It's nothing shameful. For me, suicide is nothing shameful either. It's just sad that someone would feel so alone or hopeless that they would end their life. And to make a big secret out of the cause of death implies shame as well.

  15. Each 300 posts gets you a ticket into the raffle, so if you have 120 posts by now, you have a good chance to get at least one ticket. 16. I rarely look at numbers for the guys who post regularly. I did notice TY's 5000 since he stopped right on the number. When I see someone I do not recognize, I check his post count.
  17. Most religions are enemies of the gay community. We have to face that fact or else see them continue to run roughshod over our rights.
  18. Thanks for posting that, EXPAT. I had missed it since I do not have TV anymore, only my little ROKU box!
  19. Thanks, Oz, for the shout out. I appreciate that MER took me in when another web site had cast me out. Now my advancing age and maturity has allowed me to get along with both web sites, but I still enjoy posting here at MER and am proud to take the position as second highest poster on the site.
  20. She did a great job. And the Artist for Best Movie is a good pick too. EXPAT has said good night, and I think I will too.
  21. I thought he was good. Does Viola Davis have a lock on Best Actress?
  22. Told you so.
  23. Woody Allen had another engagement tonight.
  24. I'm rooting for The Artist.
  25. He's right here!
