  1. Here's a nice shot of my cutie pinoy, Darren Criss. I'm liking the happy trail. At the least, saves money on dental floss.
  2. For the second year in a row, the bank tellers have gone on strike. Not that travelers need to see a teller, but depending on the agencia/branch, some machines are inoperable/broken. Also, keep in mind that the machines might only dispense a smaller quantity of cash/saque. Or else, that the machines might be all out of cash later in the day. The strike is mostly in the centro area of Rio. Also other cities as well. Outlying neighborhoods are not as affected. A couple months ago, the firefighters/bombeiros got a large raise in salary after a short strike. Starting in September, the mail carriers went on strike that is continuing as of now. So expect prices pretty much everywhere to have gone up 10%-20% or more. All the stores use scanners and rarely paste prices on items. They offer scanners for customers to perform their own price checks. This happens at larger pharmacies, supermarkets, bookstores like Saraiva and Travessa. Even my guiltiest pleasure, an Acai shake(Acai,Sweet Cream ice cream and Guarana syrup) has spiked from 7,95 to 9,95 on Praca XV.
  3. You are welcome. Not to brag too much, but my Chiang Mai-style Thai chicken and basil, is pretty incredible. Lots of prep work, fast to cook. I make an enormous pot and freeze 3/4. It last me about 2 1/2 weeks. Only problems are needing to use regular basil instead of the Thai and dried, instead of fresh Kaffir lime leaves. Oh well, there are much greater problems in the world.

I just watched the "ASIAN F" episode for the second time through. I'm totally floored. I still can't believe what was on. After all, it is just an hour episodic show. From the finale, the Dreamgirls group number. Mike Chang dancing with his Mom, Ralph Malph looking like Red Buttons. Among all the serious crap from this week, a bit of fun with Hot Ginge Racism. Blaine and Kurt's near-kiss in the school corridor. The shock ending. The duet with Rachel and Mercedes from Fame. An enormous wow. I've read opinions where Glee jumped the shark last year. Not.
  5. I cook the grain up separately, like rice. In a saute/omelette pan, sized depending if I am cooking for just myself or for guests as well, a little bit of olive oil so not too high on the heat with thinly- sliced onions and red/yellow peppers, so they cook fast. Peapods, string beans and/or broccoli can be blanched quickly in boiling water and then submerged in ice water to stop the cooking, or save a pan and nuke in a bowl for a 30/60 seconds and after all mixed together, top with some sliced tomatoes. I like them warmed up a bit rather than cooked through so they aren't mushy. Top it with fresh/dried dill or sweet paprika is very nice. I personally love the flavors of the Asian dressing I posted. Or sometimes I'll beat an egg and let it ooze through and cook that way and a bit of lite soy, sriracha and sushi rice vinegar. My take on fried rice. Or thinned-out barbecue/A-1 sauce combined with Worcestershire for a heartier finish.
  6. Yep. Secret Inca magic. A better-for-you couscous the way I make it.
  7. Thanks!!! 3 1/2 more weeks to go. But the past three days and two nights have been prescription medication free. A relief. I don't like the drugs too much.

How can that be? He crows about the 23 successful restaurants in his empire. Do you mean that all is not as it is portrayed? Horrors.
  9. In the sauna, where he must follow the rules and "be nice" he is incredible, if the body is your type. The most talented of male sex workers. He knows all, and I mean all, of the buttons to push. But he is also the perfect example of everyone's warnings about why it is a better idea to meet them in a sauna than outside in the street.

Thanks! This more than makes up for the bullshit fakery that is portrayed in his "Kitchen Nightmares."

Since I am no longer in Chicago, I haven't sampled any of these three places. But from what I have read the chef of the moment is actually Grant Achatz of Alinea and Next. Reservations at Next are practically impossible to obtain. Alinea has been labeled the best in the country. And the new hotspot is H20, in The Belden-Stratford(my old client, by the way,)in the old Ambria space. For many years, pre-Charlie Trotter/post-Jean Banchet, Ambria was the real-deal. Now once more, the beautiful lobby of the Belden has a restaurant aiming for the top spot.

Thanks for this post. I've been having lots of problems the last few days. No clue about the update and when I went to my help key, it stated that I was running the newest version. 3.6. But when I searched for 3.7, I was able to update, so much thanks to JAMESIVORY

Thanks. Much. 4 more weeks of forced incarceration, lots and lots of drugs, numerous ice packs, a sling and typing one-handed. 4 screws in my shoulder, Even worse is only being able to hug my boyfriend with one hand.

  15. Thanks for the Wiki link. Interesting read. Dr. Oz always is talking about "catechins" Helps to read and not just listen on the tube.
  16. I am now out of the market, as I have a new boyfriend I am very happy with and who keeps me more than satisfied. However, if not, when I heard this news, from a friend of a friend, that this favelado was back from Europe and once again selling his ass at MM, I would have been there the same day, fucked up shoulder and arm in a sling or not. Not a nice person - really not. But the best sex ever. From November 2010 through March 2011, I was keeping myself very busy with this very, very talented garoto de programa from Novo Meio Mundo. His nome de guerra is Rodrigo. He had a cell but not now. He was taken to Europe by a client but is now back in Rio de Janeiro. He is fantastic, totally versatile. Whoever cares to, enjoy him. Totally. Giant word of warning. He is not a sweetie, Not a nice person. Not terrible. Terrible manners. Not a person to even ponder spending time outside of the sauna, ttempting to get to know. Really, just a total whore. So whatever you do, do not take him out of the sauna, do not buy him any presents, pay him for the sex in the sauna, but do not spend time getting to know him, just meet him inside for the hottest sex if you like this type of guy.
  17. Definitely not 1 April. Here in Brasil, there are published stories of little Amazonas fishies getting in their as well. Now what about the gerbil and Richard Gere? Urban legend or fact?

It has been over for quite some time. Not sure why it has just been picked up by the gossip rags now. I guess it must be because the slunt is looking for a quarter mil payoff. Most interesting part is that Ashton told the bitch to leave her mobile in the living room and not take it with to bed. No incriminating evidence. Must not have wanted to fuck up the million dollar/week payday.

If nothing else, needed drama. I'm so over the Chord Overstreet fanboys. I just want to be fucked silly for hours on end by big and dumb Finn Hudson. Either all sweaty after our quarterback's football practice or else, all greasy after working on cars in the tire shop of Kurt's pop. And another thing, no one else ever mentions the real pussyhound on the show, the one cast member who plugs any hole he can find, Noah/Puck aka Mark Salling. Why is that?
  20. Hey Lurker. I'm here. Locked up with a sling on my arm, unable to leave my house for six weeks. So I do read everything here. Lots of posts seem to not need a response but I do enjoy. Now, as the child of an elderly Judge Judy addict, how much of an actress is our star? Is it all an act that they chuckle about when the cameras are turned off?
  21. Happy New Year 5772! The organization that brought the world the story of Moses and his Facebook account has released another video, and this production about Rosh Hashanah is not your grandfather's Jewish New Year's celebration. There's break-dancing. There's rap. Cute Jewish guys. And there's a message that cuts straight to the heart of the issue for Jews: "Good deed to do. Good for the soul." It's from Aish.com, which is a website launched in 2000 to become the world's largest Jewish content website, logging more than a million users sessions monthly. Aish.com's goal is to give every Jew the opportunity to discover his or her heritage in an atmosphere of open inquiry and mutual respect. It features a 24-hour live webcam from the Western Wall, has spinoff sites in Hebrew, Spanish, Portuguese, French and Russian.
  22. From Health.com Sometimes the best weight-loss tricks are the easiest. Try these three. (There’s scientific proof that they really work!) Sip white tea New research shows that, compared with other types of tea, white tea contains more caffeine and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG)—the chemicals that scientists believe break down fat cells and prevent new ones from forming. Eat your eggs The protein in an egg breakfast makes you feel fuller than the carbs in a bagel, researchers at the University of Connecticut say. And don’t worry about cholesterol—the study found that egg eaters don’t have higher LDL (the bad cholesterol) or lower HDL (the good kind) than bagel eaters. Make mine mini Those 100-calorie packets really do help you control calories—maybe even when you’re not eating them, according to researchers at the University of Colorado Denver. The calorie-conscious packaging can make you more sensitive to portion size, helping you eat less even from a bigger bag.

Nancy's nipple holds a press conference to confirm that it was, in fact, a pasty that slipped.

Michael Ausiello at TVLine reports on a new gay Dalton Warbler set to topple Blaine and Kurt's romance: Both Fox and the show’s producers declined to comment, but the buzz is that Sebastian is the polar opposite of Kurt in every possible way. He’s more like the male version of Santana in that he’s both promiscuous and kinda-sorta scheming. “He’s our villain this season,” an insider tells me. “It’s a major role.” Grant Gustin, who came from Broadway's West Side Story, is expected to debut in episode five.
  25. A Chinese man had to have an eel surgically removed from his bladder after a mishap while undergoing an unusual spa treatment. Zhang Nan, a 56-year-old resident of Hubei province, was bathing with live eels, in the hopes that the tiny, serpentine critters would nibble away layers of dead skin, revealing more youthful-looking skin below. It's similar to those unusual pedicures that have fish eat dead skin off people's feet -- except that you're fully submerged, and you're probably naked, and there are eels all over you. Anyway, Nan felt a sharp pain, realized a 6-inch eel had entered his penis and was wriggling up through his urethra. He tried to pull it out but its tiny body was too slippery to hold, and it disappeared up his penis and into his bladder, according to the story. This, the writer points out, is not the first time such an incident has been described: A teenage boy had to undergo emergency surgery to remove a 0.79-inch fish that climbed into his urethra while he was holding it and urinating. (SUPERFLUOUS HEALTH ADVICE OF THE DAY: Don't hold live animals while you're relieving yourself. No matter how good an idea it seems at the time.) Freakish as this sort of accident sounds -- and it is, of course -- there's actually a particular type of fish that has a reputation for bladder-diving. According to a Kansas State page on parasitology, there are some types of parasitic catfishes in the Amazon (mostly in the genus Vandellia, and commonly called candiru) that have been known to invade the human urethra, often while humans are urinating into a body of water.
