About ten years ago I was sitting with some friends in Dick's Cafe in Soi Twilight when one mentioned he had just recovered from a nasty bout of shingles. I decided I would get vaccinated the next day as this is a particularly nasty condition that can make life a misery for a couple of weeks or more. It can also be dangerous if you get it on your forehead as it could spread to the eyes. The doctor I saw informed me the vaccine would last ten years. So I was reminded by an article in today's Guardian that it is time for another vaccination. From what I know - and I am sure @unicorn will correct any errors - this was always thought to be an illness that affected …

Yesterday I wrote an article under Theatre, Movies etc. about the 10 year anniversary of the death of actor Alan Rickman. He died of pancreatic cancer aged 69. If you are a man, do you realise you are one of almost 500,000 who will contract the cancer this year? And are you aware that unless it is caught early and has not spread to other organs, your chance of surviving for five years is just 13.3% according to the National Cancer Institute? I'm not a doctor but I do know something about this cancer. Just over five years ago, my doctor at King Chulalongkorn Hospital in Bangkok had me undergo a full abdominal CT scan for a totally unrelated issue. From the scan, she n…

With prospective costly and logistically complex injectable formats taking centre stage in research and development, along comes a seemingly promising large Phase3 multiple global locations modality comparator trial in process of recruiting subjects. Search or DM for details. Wouldn’t want to upset any little control-freakish manipulative whiner over word count.

A little curiosity. First, I am the world's lousiest cook. I can do eggs and a few other things, but I just have no interest in cooking whatever. Second I am an unashamed chocoholic. Friends of mine are going to Muscat next week where there is a much praised original chocolate shop run by two sisters. My friends have promised to bring me back some! So a dessert that always has my juices flowing is a chocolate mousse. Yet in all my years of travelling it is rare that I have found one that really had that gorgeous mixture of taste, texture and consistency, even in a top restaurant. Too many are just too thick. Few have the right texture, a sign that insufficient egg wh…

I am a top, I usually have sex about once a month in my home country. But when I’m on holiday, I usually fuck any where between 3 to 5 guys a day. By the third day, my dick is sore from all the fucking and blowjobs. The area above the dick and below my tummy also is sore from banging ass doggy style. So from the third days on wards, it’s all about managing the health of my dick, that means taking a day off from fucking or limiting the amount of sex to 1 or 2 a day. Trying my best to maintain the health of my dick, so I can continue to have fun. Does anyone have the same experience and anything to do to prevent or limit this issue? I welcome any advice and suggestio…

Members 3k Posted just now I am puzzled why I have never seen, in any gay forum or gay news reports, the fact that there is a certain group of people who are lacking a specific gene that prevents them from becoming infected with HIV. These people can have sex with thousands of HIV positive people and never get infected with HIV because of the lack of a certain gene that prevents HIV from infecting them. When HIV was raging before and into 1995, there was no HIV medication that prevented most HIV patients fr…

A very interesting thing I noticed is when people get "older" they tend to lose their balance It affects their walking and daily life where they become dependent on a stick 🏒. I won't name the member here who says he has to use a walking stick because it's confidential and I don't wish to embarrass someone But Riobard uses a walking stick and he wouldn't be the only one on this forum It's becoming what you would say as "normal " Losing your balance is not normal Look , don't get me wrong , I remember when I was a kid seeing far far more old people using walking sticks than today I was in the gym this morning here on cold sunny Sydn…

From Reuters By Chayut Setboonsarng and Panarat Thepgumpanat BANGKOK (Reuters) - Thailand will work towards legislating marijuana for medical use, a deputy prime minister said Tuesday, signalling a U-turn on plans to re-criminalise the plant and another change in the government's hazy position on cannabis. Thailand in 2022 became one of the first countries in Asia to decriminalise marijuana, doing so without a law to govern it or clear regulations in place to prevent its recreational usage. The move, however, led to an explosion of recreational use and the launch of tens of thousands of cannabis cafes and retailers enabling it, prompting public concern…

Adding to the recent thread on gonorrhoea inoculations soon to be available in the UK, in Thailand we have also to be aware that the rate of STIs is rising alarmingly. According to date from the HealthDeliver Clinic website, three key take-aways from their research - - Thailand experiences a rise in STI rates, particularly syphillis and gonorrhoea, with alarming inplications for youth health. - Drug use and casual sex culture contribute significantly to risky behaviors and decreased condom use among young individuals. - Gonorrhoea is increasingly antibiotic-resistant, posing a serious public health threat that could lead to untreatable infections. Bexsero, repurposed meningitis vaccine. Will commence in a few months in UK. I think covered by NHS. It has very moderate protective efficacy but may reduce current escalating gonococcal infection, particularly in the context of increasing case antimicrobial resistance, incidence over time Somebody, a person quite advanced in age with an air of entitlement, had recently declared to me that they self-described, disturbingly, as “daddy seeking to top twinks bareback” (though a generation off, no?). Anything that could offset, even a little, the consequences of widespread sexploitation of young males, particularly abroad, is a good thing. I could never come close to res…

From Full Measure website Odds are, you’ve heard of “Low T.” That’s the pharmaceutical industry’s name for testosterone deficiency in men. There’s a lot of attention given to treating it, but far less emphasis on a national health crisis: mysteriously declining testosterone levels in American men population-wide. They’ve been losing an alarming amount of the crucial hormone that quite literally makes them men. And nobody has identified exactly why. https://fullmeasure.news/

From ScienceFriday.com Researchers have discovered that the artificial sweetener saccharin has powerful antimicrobial properties. A new study published in EMBO Molecular Medicine suggests that saccharin can actually kill antibiotic resistant bacteria by interfering with DNA replication and cell division. The researchers also concluded that, with the help of traditional antibiotics, saccharin could even be used as an effective wound treatment. Host Ira Flatow talks with study author Dr. Ronan McCarthy, professor in biomedical sciences and director of the Antimicrobial Innovations Centre at Brunel University of London. Listen to the podcast at https://ww…

From The BBC The compound has been linked to improved cognitive performance and reduced anxiety – but are you getting enough of it? You may not have heard of choline before, but studies show that it's crucial for our health, at various stages of life. Choline is neither a vitamin or a mineral – it's an organic compound that's vital to the healthy functioning of the human nervous system. Now there's emerging evidence that consuming more choline can have a wide range of powerful effects, from improving cognitive performance to protecting against neurodevelopmental disorders, including attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and dyslexia. …

From CNN Editor’s note: CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta and writer Sandee LaMotte are part of the study covered in this story and have written about their experiences. CNN — When Penny Ashford’s father was diagnosed with early-stage Alzheimer’s disease at age 62, she knew the devastating brain disorder might one day steal her memory. In her late 50s, her free-floating anxiety turned to outright panic when she began struggling to find words. “I couldn’t tell a story. I couldn’t get my words out,” said Ashford, now 61. “I remember sitting at a dinner party one time, and I couldn’t finish my thoughts. It was the most unbelievable moment. …

From CNN Health What are you focusing on in the new year to improve your health? Regular exercise, of course, is a proven winner, as is eating plant-based meals. Getting more high-quality sleep, reducing stress, limiting alcohol and connecting with other people in meaningful ways are also key ways to boost well-being. However, there is one behavior change often overlooked when we think about improving our health in the new year: hydration. Water is the elixir of life, but few people make drinking enough a priority. Yet it’s so easy — there are no gyms to join, no meals to prepare, no need to scour the internet for a tasty mocktail — and experts say water’s …

NOTE -- Jujube, also known as the Chinese red date, is a round fruit commonly grown in Southeast Asia. The bright red jujube fruit is about the size of a plum. Inside the fruit is a white pulp covering the jujube seed. Jujube fruit is rich in fiber, vitamin C, and anti-inflammatory plant compounds. In traditional Chinese medicine, jujubes are consumed to improve sleep and remove toxins. Jujubes have been grown in China for over 4,000 years. From Bangkok Post Most fruit samples randomly tested by the Thai Pesticide Alert Network (Thai-Pan) contained hazardous residues that exceeded the safety standard, particularly jujubes and oranges. Thai-PAN coordinator P…

From The Thaiger Everyone loves delicious food, but sometimes our favourite dishes can be harmful to our health if we eat too much of them. Processed foods, especially meats like sausages, are popular in Thailand, but eating them too often can lead to serious health issues such as kidney disease and cancer. It is important to understand the risks and make mindful choices to protect our health. Processed meats, like sausages, are convenient and tasty, but they can be harmful if consumed regularly. They often contain high levels of sodium (salt), phosphorus, and preservatives. These substances put extra stress on our organs, especially the kidneys, and can lead to…

From Bangkok Post The Public Health Ministry has announced measures to reduce salt and sodium consumption, aiming to reduce the problem of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). Public Health Minister Somsak Thepsutin chaired the National Policy Committee on Salt and Sodium Consumption Reduction to reduce NCDs on Monday saying Thai people consumed salt and sodium much higher than a standard recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). He said a 2009 ministry survey indicated that Thais consumed 4,351.69 milligrams (mg) of sodium per person per day from their diets, which is twice the WHO's recommendation of 2,000mg per day. More than 22 million Thais suffe…
