For those of you who have flown between cities which one do you think is the best? I am looking at GOL based on ease of luggage fee/number of pieces rules. Anyone have anything positive or negative to say about them?

Thanks for the heads up on the nano. One possibly was converting my 5s since my phone is up for an upgrade. If Nanos are that tough to find then that would make me think that's probably not a good idea.

All, I'm planning on using an old iPhone 4s with a SIM card while in Brazil. Couple of questions: 1) As the 4s doesn't have 4g has anyone had any trouble with 3G phones in Brazil? 2) Is it easy to find the micro SIM cards that the 4s uses?

All, I would like to get some feedback on flying between 2 domestic cities. In looking at the TAM and Azul websites the prices seem reasonable but the luggage fees (for a second bag) seem ridiculous. Am I missing something? I am planning on packing a personal item (briefcase-like), a carry-on (which seems to be too big/heavy for a Brazilian carry-on) and a checked bag for 12 days visiting Brazil. What do others do? I hope I am making sense in my inquiry. Thanks

Same here I got a 10 year visa...the process was pretty simple just remember you have to bring a postal money order for the fee and a self addressed, postage paid us postal service flat rate priority or express mail envelope.

All, Now that I have my airline ticket, I need to work on getting my visa. I noticed on the application that they ask for a Brazilian contact. Since I'm am planning on renting a place from airbnb rather than a hotel, what is the best way to fill out this section? Do I have to wait until I have all my lodging done before getting the visa? Do the renters of these places find it alright to list their places on the application? Also since im visiting multiple cities to i need to have a contact for each place? Any suggestions/thoughts would be helpful.

Its official I got my plane ticket to Brazil. I'm coming in October, leaving Raleigh-Durham on the 8th and returning on the 19th. Cost was $448 but I decided to use miles as it only cost me 40,000! (Save the cash for the boys ) Its one stop in JFK each way! Ill be doing a 3-4 days in SP and the rest in Rio. Excited!!!!! Now on to housing!!!

Im using flight tracker and a ticket to SP from Raleigh/Durham with a connection in Washington DC for is $665 on united... so it looks like the other airlines are starting to match the American deals as well.

Ok so it's looking like my plan is 10 days in Brazil. Rio for sure and São Paulo but should I try and strech another place? This is both a tourist trip as well as wanted to enjoy the boys of Brazil trip. Anyone got any sample itineraries or ways to break it up that make sense also taking into the account of when each sauna is best to visit.

Hello all, I wanted to get people perceptions on solo traveling to Brazil. I normally travel with family or groups but am looking forward to traveling on my own for a change. I am looking at Sao Paulo and Rio for 10 days in October. Pitfalls to avoid? Things I shouldnt miss? (first time traveler) Guides to get a general tourist overview of the cities? General observations would be helpful.

I read a lot of posts about hiring a guide. Beyond the non-sexual visiting the spots that the tourist should see, how does a guide work in relation to your experiences meeting guys. Do they go to the saunas with you? Arrange guys to meet at your hotel. What would the cost be for this? I'm exploring a trip to both Sao Paulo and Rio.

Hello all I'm brand new to the forum but have enjoyed reading it. I am thinking about making a trip to Brazil...and I have appreciated all of the for first timer posts watchouts and warnings. I did have a question. How are the saunas and boys for those of us that might be a little thicker around the waist? I am 33, 5'7 and about 220 lbs with a hairy chest. Can people like me have fun there? Do the guys charge differently based on body type? I havent had trouble in the sex department by any means and I am confident enough in myself that I really don't give a fuck, but hell if I'm gonna pay for it make enjoy a place I want to feel good and not cheated. Am I making sense?
