Saturday - Rough Night. A couple of garatos prevent me on Friday that Saturday there will be a party, and a lot of people coming. I wasn't prepared for that! Arrived around 6:30p. The cute boy at frontdesk was next to a nervous breakdown. He run out of sandals, "no chinelos"! I was sent to the dressing room second section, as the main one was crowded. For at least two hours, waiting list for all. The place was packed and, as likeohmygod said, it was impossible to stay at the bar area. I was there until 9:30 pm. The "party" was nothing special, in my opinion. The regular trans show + strippers. There was free food, mostly consumed by the garotos. At the beginning you may be happy with so much people and options to pick, but in the end it also fired back. Everybody become tired pretty fast, and I see several garatos (the good ones) start leaving about 8:00 pm so, if you don't want to miss your chances, take action immediately! A lot of transvestites guests, that definitively attracts the attention from the GPs; good opportunity to check which garotos are really bi and those that really loves trans girls, if that matters to you.
Lessons: for parties, try to arrive as earlier as possible, as the ambiance will exhaust everybody. Bring your own sandals; may be too obvious but this situation reminds me that these guys don't sanitize this (ok, I was naive..) and you can find a lot at the shopping mall inside Santa Cruz (http://www.shoppingmetro.com.br/Loja). A lot of these guys come to the party to socialize and for the free food, believe or not. 150 is the norm, unless you are damn good on negotiation. And more money doesn't mean better service.

PopeFrancis, if budget is not a problem for you, I recommend you Renaissance Sao Paulo Hotel, near Paulista Ave. One of the best hotels in town. Subway is three blocks away, and you can be in 20 minutes at Lagoa. Fragata is pretty close too, but I was pretty amused with Lagoa for fun moments.
If you are on budget, try ibis budget Sao Paulo Paulista. It is in the same area, pretty decent. Rooms are very small, but the price is just a fraction of Renaissance. 
Both hotels can give you some trouble bringing guys. I recommend you to book for a two person room, and then check-in your guest. Or ask for two keys and give one to the guy so he can go directly to your room. Both hotels have elevators that requires keys to work.  OF COURSE, exercise common sense about who are you going to bring to your room.

As a seasoned traveler to Habana (about seven trips to there), I can recommend you do your best before the embargo ends. People is overexcited about the amount of American tourist with big dollars that will request their pingas no matter the price, and that is making some people to increase their rates.
In my case, I have Cuban friends in La Habana that always help me to control pinguero's expectations. I always pay 20-25 CUCs for a service, a little more if I ask for a nightstand. Most of these guys will be more than happy to have you as repeatable customer. Not all are good on bed, but those with the right attitude... man... they will make your trip a dream!
Peter, you can find that type of guys near Bimbon, specially at Las Vegas. However, sometimes I have to go to other "upscale" places to find those European-look gods. There is an implicit classism in Cuban society! In any case, all the places are fantastic to find awesome boys!

Cuba is a paradise for meeting awesome men. I mean AWESOME. I have been traveling to Cuba in the last five years, about twice per year. I don't want to write a long post; just some advices:
1. If you want to meet a lot of Cuban men, DO NOT stay at a hotel. Use "casas particulares". You can find decent places for about 30 CUC (45 USD) very well located, and you can do anything you want.
2. Expect to pay about 20-40 CUC per man. Mulatos and black guys are cheaper. White and muscled, expensive. If size does matter for you, check it before close the deal. It is a myth that all the Cuban guys are well endowed.
3. If you want wild experiences, don't lock with a guy in particular. They are very territorial about their "yumas" (foreign customers) and you don't want a scene.
4. Having said that, you can go with confidence. It is one of the safest places in Latin America. Just use your common sense. You're not in a runway showing luxury jewelry, expensive clothes, etc. Don't temp them.
5. If you don't speak Spanish well, I highly recommend you hire a companion for the trip. Someone confident will be escorting you to the hot places, keep an eye in your belonging, helping with the restaurants, etc. It is one of your wisest investments. I still hire the same one since years ago, just to make everything easier.
6. I know a lot of people love the "local" places, the "paladares". Keep in mind some of these are really a scam. I have had very mixed experiences of these. If you want a decent (I said decent, not a 3-star Michelin experience) there are restaurants that, for about 20-30 CUC, you will have a different level of service. Yes, these are run by the government.
7. If you expect the typical shyness and service attitude found in other countries in Latin America, in Cuba, forget it. Most of the Cuban guys don't have a sense of prudence and they will ask for things without hesitation. In this sense, a local guide make all these things clear.
8. There are parties all the week long. Ask the guys where is the "fiesta" today.
