Speaking of remote luxury resort, I once stayed at this type of resort in Phuket(couldn't even remember the name, it's probably a Hilton or Sheraton brand since I was upgraded to executive floor because of my member status), I was bored to death, never again.

I did tourist stuff once and that's all I need. My point was, I would go to a specific shop or site for a reason, both in Thailand and Brazil, but I would not hang out or walk around on streets aimlessly, both in Thailand and Brazil. To each their own.

I am not interested in walking around on busy noisy crowded hot humid polluted air, dirty streets in Thailand anyway. I usually stay at upscale, self-contained, full service hotels with gym, pool, restaurant on site in both Thailand and Brazil, hence no need to go outside for anything. In this regard, Thailand is about half the price of Brazil, and about 1/3 of the price of Europe and U.S.
