Update Sunday 27 Dec: Drizzly Thurs 24 Dec. Despite what someone said Sexy Rose closed at 1700 hrs, had some fun, but quiet afternoon. Saunas were closed as best as I could tell. Also checked on the exchange rates. RS has weakened a bit over the past week. In the end, both bank accounts reimbursed for at least 2 of my airport ATM withdrawal fees so far. The exchange rates used had me loosing less than 1% of the Xe.com rates posted for the 15 minute interval. The rates for each bank were very slightly different, but quite reasonable. Do not know about the more recent ATM uses yet. Advice: bring several cards in case they get eaten by the ATMs and if cards do not work at a certain location, try another location / bank and the cards may very well function normally. Try not to get get mixed up between checking, savings, and universal accounts as this can be another reason for your ATM card not to work. Always call or web in your travel details so your bank does not freeze your ATM card abroad. NEVER accept the ATM machine or merchant conversion rate !!!  Guaranteed bad rip off and there should be laws against this.  
Now to refill my Brasil SIM card.

Everyone wears masks for the most part.  It's mandatory to get onto the Metro.  Inside dining with masks.  Went to 117 and it was a mixed bag.  Most didn't wear but had it handy.  Depending on your tastes; it could either be really good or just OK. I saw a one or two guys from the forum.  It's still really slow with regards to Clients and Garotos.   Weather was crap.  Things are returning back to a "new normal"  but it'll take some time and some adventurous hoes to make the leap forward.  I didn't go to Lions.  I did go to Pointe but they were doing a private party.  No new faces but the regulars abound.  Insurance is no longer a requirement.    If you are worried; I would recommend staying at home as worrying about getting sick would put a damper on festivities.  No direct flight from where I was at.  I had to connect from Sao Paulo to Rio and Rio to Sau Paulo.  Both flights were packed.  Everyone wears a mask on the plane. Getting from the US to Sao Paulo.  Flights were empty.  Exchange I got of casa de cambio was 5.6.  Selection was limited but was always able to get at least 2 programmas in during each visit.  150 seems to be the going rate and I don't quibble as it's not much but I do remember one guy asking for 120.  Daily rates can vary but I pay 300 to 500 per day.  It really depends upon your relationship with the person.  I think minimum wage is about 1200 reais/month before taxes.

Thanks for posting. I leave for my winter home in Medellin in one week, but will be spending time in Cartagena over the holidays.  Sorry that no one warned you about the dirty beaches. The only fair beach in Bocagrande is close to El Laguito by the Hilton Hotel. Everyone else will choose to take a boat ride out to the islands for a carribean white sand beach day. 
I usually have success in Cartagena but not in the tourist areas. El Torre del Reloj (Watchtower) is the worst spot ever -- to be avoided at all costs.  The walled city tends to attract some pretty aggressive players and is not worth the hassle (from experience). Most of the local gay spots were closed up due to the pandemic, and many of them (I suspect) will not be reopening. Hollywood beach on a Sunday used to be a reliable spot to meet locals but even that scene has slowed, I would imagine.  Cartagena was hit hard economically by the quarantine, so I can appreciate that there would be some aggressive hustling these days as the tourists slowly trickle back. It will be a while before Cartagena bounces back, but I am confident this jewel of the Carribean will return.

I'd echo everyone saying that the sauna is safest... followed by the love motel...

There are quite a few in Rio but they are pretty passive about it..I think I asked about the requirements to get into the country... Is it difficult to meet the COVID test requirements so you don't have to quarantine..?

It depends on the country. But it’s really a numbers game. I can send 50 messages if 5 hit then I did well. But usually I target “models”. I will go to an agency I like, message the models I'm interested in most don’t reply but some do. I really find success in the tagged photos. Many amateurs who seem very open to meeting an American.

The rate for the guys online in miami and ft Lauderdale are too damn expensive.  Im spoiled by the prices I pay in SD and RIO. after paying bargain basement prices in those countries,  I can't imagine paying $250-$300 for an American hook up.
