Trip Report Rio de Janeiro - Jan 2022 This forum has helped me over the years and I have made good friends with members. Pre-departure Covid Test: With well-known problems of PCR turnaround time elsewhere, the Histopath test centre at Sydney airport emailed me result in 1.5 hours. On their website it says they only accept same day testing but the sign onsite indicates within 24h time frame. Flights: From Sydney to Rio. Flight options are limited at this time with Qantas/Latam not operating SYD-AKL-SCL route. Options are AA, UA, DL, EK and QR. Flight time 30-40 hrs. I chose United Polaris class at A$6,084 return, with 2 stops in SFO and IAH. One stop options with EK or QR cost double. The hard products of United is at best industry average. Missed all Polaris lounges as they are far from my connecting gates. The united clubs are very basic with no showers.
