I had literally just got out of the lift in my condo and walked outside when I heard a loud bang. It was the nearby elecricity transformer. I was on my way to do some shopping on SIlom and Sukhumvit. When I got a taxi, the driver was almost screamng at me - "Aftershock! Aftershock?" I stupidly did not understand what he was saying because I had actually felt nothing as I was walking. Then my partner started sending me X videos of water like a waterfall coming from a skyscraper swimming pool, and then another of a tall building under construction that was collapsing. I then realised there had been an earthquake. But that's odd, I thought, because Bangkok is not in an earthquake zone! The traffic was becoming bad and eventually my taxi driver dropped me on Saladaeng Soi 1 saying he had to get home.
Not even having had breakfast, I was hungry. The Skytrain and MRT plus shopping malls were closed. Fortunately, market stalls were open, and then I found some guys drinking at a tiny Spanish restaurant on Saladaeng. They told me it was still serving food. I therefore enjoyed an excellent lunch. By this time the internet was working again and I could see that the quake did not occur in or near Bangkok. It was a major 7.7 quake situated close to the surface near Mandalay in Myanmar. That's a big one, bigger than the 6.9 shock I had experienced near San Jose in 1989. It was felt all over west Thailand and in China's Yunnan Province. The only other time I recall Bangkok ever experiencing such a shock from a quake was the one off Aceh Province in indonesia in December 2004.
Shopping abandoned, getting home was the problem. Silom was choked with traffic for the most part not moving. Taxis and motorcy taxis were impossible to find. So i walked down Convent and eventually found one motorcy driver on Sathorn prepared to take me the 4 kms or so to my condo. He wanted Bt. 20 more than I offered which i was delighted to agree. Weaving through the enormous traffic jams on both Silom and Nanglingchee was sometimes scary but the driver knew what he was doing. I got back safely - only to find the lifts were still out of action! 8 floors later and an exhausted owner finally was home and ready for whatever water was left in the shower!
But still no aftershocks, and I expect there will be none as they will usually be much closer to the quake's epicentre. We would certainly have felt a few by now if we were going to get any.

    Bangkok - part 3
I am back home already so this is the last part of my trip. Stayed in some hotels I haven't stayed at before, met some new boys as well as rekindled with some old ones, and I was fortunate enough to hang out with Vinapu 3 times! We started our nights having a drink at the front of Banana bar before heading off to a gogo bar.

    Hotels
Ibis Styles Silom - I had a decent stay here. It is fairly new and quite clean, however the rooms are a little on the smaller side. The room layout is also quite interesting with an absolutely massive shower, and then the bathroom sink on the outside. It seemed to work though. I was on the highest floor of the rooms and had a nice view of a carpark. At least I had an outside view as the rooms on the other side of the floor faced towards the 'atrium' so they would have received no natural light. They are guest friendly with no-one batting an eyelid when bringing your gentleman of the evening. Would I stay again? Probably not, but it was worth giving it a try.
Le Meridien - It was a highlight to stay at this hotel. From the get-go, the level of service and hospitality was unmatched compared to everywhere else that I stayed. I booked direct and had the Marriott Bonvoy app installed on my phone and they sent a notification when my room was ready - which happened to be at around 11:30am which meant I could just pop over from Ibis Styles without having to wait around. The app also allowed me to unlock my room without using the card. The room was huge and well-appointed and this hotel also is guest friendly. I had a 'beef brisket burger' from the restaurant downstairs, which is something I wouldn't normally get, but it was actually really delicious. Normally I would say that Crowne Plaza is my favourite in the area, but I think Le Meridien might just take the cake. The only reason I would choose Crowne over Meridien is the proximity to the BTS/MRT and also it is on the 'correct' side of Surawong Road.

    Bars
Dreamboys - I've been here countless times so nothing much more needs to be said, and I ended up taking back my regular from here who I've known for a few years. I like him and we are comfortable with each other, but I get the feeling sometimes that he is becoming a little complacent in his efforts. The show was pretty standard, and there was another boy that I liked but as soon as I mentioned it, another customer took him off straight away. Have to be quick!
Hotmale - It was a quiet night when I visited, but the show went on. Since there weren't many customers (and at one stage I was the only one), when the big cock show came around, I tipped them all (there were only 4 guys). Most of the guys I could have gone with and whilst choosing, I asked the papasan who can top AND bottom, and he pointed out only 2 guys who I then decided to call both down and have a drink. Turns out they are both Cambodian. Whilst trying to make up my mind as to who to take, it was suggested that I go with both but I didn't really want to risk an awkward encounter in case things didn't quite work out. I ended up choosing the guy that sat on my right as he was a little more playful, had more tattoos and kissed better, and the guy on my left was just very slightly fem, which isn't a bad thing but just not my thing right then. Turns out that I had made a good choice as the chemistry back in the bedroom was definitely there. Absolutely will repeat for next time.
Moonlight - It was a quiet night at this bar with a few customers, but the show went on anyway, which as you probably already know, is pretty tame. The floor boys I probably could have gone with any of them, they were all pretty attractive, but I didn't that night. The models - a little too big for my personal taste, but attractive anyway. There was a guy that I had been with in the past, and Vinapu had also been with, and I had a selfie of him and me which I showed Vinapu and he told me to show the guy, so I did and he was pretty bewildered, I don't think he remembered me at all lol. There were also a couple of guys sitting near us that I think had bottle service and later on in the night one of the guys I think had passed out and his friend had to carry him out.
Atlas - This was great fun. All the staff knew Vinapu as he is quite famous in these parts. The night started with one of the guys giving me a massage (I remember him from Tawan), and then the show which featured many appendages but no fuck show this time. The lady boy show at the end was absolutely hilarious though - made me laugh out loud. There was one guy that looked vaguely familiar so I invited him for a drink and turns out that I had offed him a year ago when he worked at what was then called Screwboys. He was really angling for an off, and gave me a boner right there in the bar, but I wasn't looking for company that night. I also bought another guy a drink who had a Muay Thai body and abs of steel, however he was very oily lol. He was pretty friendly and told me not to forget him next time I come. Earlier in the night there was a cute (masked) asian guy (customer) that sat quite close next to me even though there were many vacant seats in the bar. Overall, it was a really fun night with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Yes the boys are mostly huge, but there is a variety that would cater to all tastes.

    Other
Massage - the only massage I had was an outcall. Earlier in my trip I had gone to Senso hoping to see a particular masseur that I had in the past, but he wasn't working there anymore. Luckily I had his Line contact so I contacted him and turns out that he works freelance at Prince and Jey Spa but would be happy to come to my hotel room. So I booked him to come visit me and we had an excellent and versatile time.
Pattaya boy - this guy that I had met in Jomtien who gave me a bit of a boyfriend experience was trying to get me to come visit his hometown (about an hour outside of Bangkok) but since I had already paid for my hotels in Bangkok, I wasn't keen. He then wanted to visit me in Bangkok so I agreed for only 1 night, which he was happy with (I really am not a fan of long-time). We ended up having some drinks at Valour in Silom soi 4 (I had a huge gin and tonic that was served in a red wine glass) and we went to Silom soi 2 later in the evening, to DJ station, or at least to a bar in that general vicinity, not sure if it is all DJ Station. He seemed to know many of the staff there, and my body was already saying no, so I left him there to have fun (which he was completely fine with) and I went back to the hotel to sleep and he rang me later on when he was ready to come back. This guy is getting a little too attached to me, and I do like him too, but I have been trying to cool it a little because I cannot return the feelings back that he seems to have for me. He's a good guy though, really sweet. In the morning we went to foodland, and funnily enough he got the farang breakfast whilst I had a rice soup.
Sexual health clinic - if you are looking to get tested, I would recommend Pribta Tangerine Clinic, which is in the Chamchuri building, close to Sam Yan MRT. I think it is cheaper than the more popular Pulse clinic. It is really well-run and pretty efficient. The clinic is very clean and neat and all the staff speak English. It was pretty busy when I went though. The results were emailed to me a few hours after I had left. Here in my home country, it takes a few days at least.

So that marks the end of my 2 month trip. I have never taken a holiday this long before, but I am glad that I gave it a try. There were times where I was done and felt like coming home, but towards the end I needed more time! I got lazy often and was always saying 'I'll do it tomorrow' but then there were no more tomorrows left! But all in all I had a great time, and even got to meet with a few lovely forum members. This trip I also noticed more and more people thought I was Thai, which has happened in the past, but not to this extent. I take it as a compliment though. I'm planning my next trip for maybe a year's time, but who knows, the temptation may become too great and I will find myself back sooner rather than later. Thanks for reading!

@Moses I want to say that I appreciate ALL the help that you have done over the many years that I have known you (almost 12 years), including (apologies if I forget anything in the below list😞
you helped my friend Woody, a Shan State refugee get on his feet (he always feared to be deported) by trusting my recommendation to give him a chance to be a tour guide for Siam Roads.  I am so PROUD of Woody, as he now has legal papers to reside in Thailand, he eventually bought the massage shop where I met him, Classic House Massage Shop - in Chiang Mai, he built a home for his mom back in Shan state in troubled Myanmar, he bought a new car which he uses for his tours, he created a wonderful tour business --> which I used his tour services a couple of times with his partner, Non.  Moses - your trust in me (and also Woody) - allowed Woody to find the right path to success and I will always be grateful to you.  Thank you Moses. Moses - you gave a chance to many of the other guys on Siam Roads that we happily employ to bring us wonderful tours. Back when Michael (SurferCrest) was the owner of the Sawatdee chat forum group - you were ALWAYS there to help and support the success of that forum - which I believe that you eventually took over from Michael. You were ALWAYS available for free to help with the network and IT issues for Gaybutton's forum. You have helped with technical issues over the years for ALL 3 Thailand forums - Sawatdee, Gaybutton, and this one, GayGuides - this is truly appreciated Moses. It just PISSES me off that so many of our forum members just constantly dump shit on you when you have a kind heart and thanks to you we all have a forum that we can use to find wonderful sexual encounters and have great vacations.
I just needed to get this off of my chest.  Enough is ENOUGH!!!!!!
I know that many people do not agree with the political side of things - but do we really need to stay so political in these forums????
This forum, gayguides.com has become so political --> especially after the fall of the former "Company of Men" forum when many of those forum members migrated over to this forum = gayguides.com
Can't we all agree to get back to why this forum was created in the first place?
To have fun, to plan our vacations, to share our adventures with each other, to create lasting friendships?
Or is it more important for us to tear each other apart ??
If so, what will be left of this forum????

Thank you so much for that natural high. You just sent a rush of endorphins up my spine, into my shoulders and down my triceps. They've never reached so far before. They usually stop at the base of my neck, at that ridge really good masseurs know how to hit and how to keep coming back to.
I read a lot of gay romance novels and while doing so often imagine myself authoring one. I do have some material to work with, as you might imagine. Shall I start with the latest? I'm in Pattaya, by the way.
I think I've bitched and moaned on this site about how much I hate Pattaya (except during Songkran). I think I've reminded everybody how filthy Pattaya is, how it's a constant death match between all the diesel exhaust-spewing tourist buses and my lungs, and how its heyday was sometime when I was partying in DJ Station like it was (actually) 1999.
So why did I come back? Because I'm a bit of an addict and can't stand the the thought that while I'm in Bangkok the twink of my dreams — he's super thin, barely 20, maybe a bit effeminate but with ridged abs that don't give way when you rap your knuckles against them — might be be an hour and a half away in Chonburi, half naked, on a stage flashing intoxicating smiles at some other old dude.
And besides, Bangkok has become too expensive, and something happened to DJ Station around 2008: Cute young Thais stopped going there on weeknights, like they're actually taking their futures more seriously.
So knowing there is little excitement in Bangkok until Friday, I have taken a Bolt taxi to Pattaya (thanks much for the tip about this new app, everyone).
Cut to the chase (a full trip report that starts on Friday, Nov. 25, will get it's own thread. Hopefully I can upload some videos of that night). It's now Tuesday night, two nights after I made a go-go bar crawl through Boyz Town only to find … well I felt like I was walking through a dystopian version of Boyz Town. Tonight, Tuesday, is also one night after I headed to Jomtien, ran into an old friend and became dizzy with the reactor's worth of energy and good vibes that the Super Complex now generates. Jomtien has much more on-the-street excitement than Boyz Town ever did.
OK, back from that tangent, tonight's also the night before I head back to Bangkok.
I'm expecting to bar hop. A shot of tequila here, a shot of tequila down the soi, a shot of tequila around the corner and down the way from the sad, boarded up Penthouse Hotel.
I start in the go-go bar on the same soi as Boyz Boyz Boyz, the first one on the left as you enter the soi from Second Road. I had actually poked my head in this bar on Sunday night. No customers in the seats and no one resembling a twink on stage. Pass.
But this night, my last in Pattaya, isn't going to be about shopping for nonexistent twinks. It's about killing some time, going into a few bars, ordering a drink at each, having one of the guys on stage sit with me and forcing him to have a Google Translate conversation with me by buying him a drink.
So I take my seat and … that twink who doesn't exist is staring at me.
This is when I usually freeze up. But before I left my hotel I promised myself to channel my inner-Eddie. Eddie used to live in Tokyo, too. We kind of knew each other. We also ran into each other in Pattaya and Jomtien on a couple consecutive New Year's vacations. He was in his 60s at the time and had no compunction against approaching anyone who caught his eye. One day on Jomtien he walked up to one of the most darling teenagers you could possibly imagine. Eddie called him “Chicken Boy” because he was going up and down the beach selling chicken. With his mother. Eddie disregarded the parental presence, walked up the the kid (I'm sure he was of legal age) and gave Chicken Boy his deets. The next day on the beach the kid came by with his chicken and mother and couldn't stop smiling at Eddie. “Yeh,” Eddie explained, “he called my hotel. I had the receptionist translate. We arranged for him to come to my room this morning. He has a beautiful cut cock. I couldn't help wrapping my lips around it. He came in my mouth in a few seconds. He had never had sex before. Then he came in my mouth again a couple minutes later.”
This memory going though my head, I immediately ask the twink who really, really does exist to come sit with me. I pay him a bribe of vodka and Coke, and we chat via Google Translate.
    Me: What's your name?
Me: Nodding my head as though I understand what he says.
    Me: Where are you from?
Barely legal boy with the great smile: Cambodia.
Me: How long have you been in Thailand?
Barely legal boy with the great smile: Two weeks.
By this point both of us have an arm wrapped around the other, and barely legal boy gives a genuine impression that he's enjoying himself. I'm loving it. He has a perfectly chiseled body. Hard lats forming a V from his shoulders to his waist and rock-hard muscles running down either side of his spine. He uses his hand to encourage my hand to further explore his supple skin.
It is at his point I feel the need to ask a stupid question:
    Me: Are you gay?
OH MY FUCKING GOD! I CAN'T BELIVE I JUST ASKED THAT! He's so obviously gay!
Barely legal boy with the great smile: No.
What the fuck? He's not gay but he's physically encouraging me to caress his Adonis-like body?
I'm still really happy to be with Barely Legal Boy, though I know nothing can happen between us. I'm a top, and gay-for-pay guys are never bottoms, right? I guess my original plan of quickly hopping from one bar to another is back on. But I still haven't finished my tequila, and and Barely Legal Boy has barely touched his cocktail. So I'm gonna stay right here with my right arm wrapped around a young man who's being extraordinarily kind to me.
So … how do I keep the conversation going and my disappointment from showing?
Is there a small-talk question I haven't gotten out of the way yet? Well, yeh, the obvious one.
    Me: How old are you?
Barely legal boy with the great smile: 25.
Me: I was gonna guess 17.
Barely Legal Boy: (Smiles) Thank you, but it's true. You can ask my brother. He's right there. (Points to my left).
I turn and look and my eyes can't believe it. There's an even younger man with a family resemblance but even better looking than Barely Legal Boy. Oh, and he also has a smile that makes me melt.
Me: (How come two nights ago I thought Heaven was a dystopia?) Does your brother also drink vodka and Cokes?
Barely legal boy obviously in cahoots with his younger brother: He does if I tell him to. Shall we call him over?
Me: (Adjusting my crotch in the mistaken belief that I can hide my tremendous hard-on; fail miserably). Um, OK.
Me: Your brother says he's 25. You look like you're 16.
Brother who speaks good English and can converse without the help of a smartphone: No, he's 28, and I'm 26. Do you want to see my passport?
Me: No, if you say your passport says you're 26, I believe you.
Younger, cuter brother: I have a picture of my passport on my smartphone. Look.
I look. Birth year listed as 1996. So what am I going to believe? his government-issued ID or my judgment based on the lack of lines anywhere on his face? I drop the subject as the brothers converse in Khmer. More drinking ensues. It turns out that the 26-year-old — the younger brother — is gay, has been in Pattaya for a year and recently recruited his straight brother.
Yeh, I needed several seconds to allow this to compute, too.
Now both of my arms arms are full.
I never did make it to another Boyz Town bar. The younger brother agreed to return to my hotel with me if I take his older brother home tomorrow night.
It's at this point in our bargaining session that I remember this thread — right here on this forum — and my pre-vacation promise to myself to ask a particular question. So I turn to the straight brother and ask:
    Are you a good kisser?
He instantly smiles and pulls my head to his. He's gotten something to prove and doesn't care if his brother and coworkers are spectating. Yep, I'm convinced and try to pull away three times but Older Brother doesn't let me.
Actually, maybe that endorphin rush was the result of the night I just had.
Oh, and I'm also staying in Pattaya one more night.

This is nonsense. I lived in Bangkok and was well acquainted with the Ha Tinh boys 5 years ago. I used to sit at Red Dragon (outside screwboy) till the early hours multiple times a week.  They are all from the same province.
They won't take shit. But if you show them respect, it will be returned. I am unsure why the OP is so hateful. I found them to be some of the more honest, no bullshit people to spend time with.

Let me help everyone. I'm really gay. Like obviously gay. Everyone can see it in me. My keyboard that I am typing on is pink. My monitor I'm looking at has unicorns attached. My clothes are more flamboyant than the contestants on Legendary. My nails are a bit polished. My ass was shaved by the lady who does bikini waxes to the stars. Let there be no mistaking this, when I type, I send all my gay aura through the Internet into the post I'm typing. And, yes, it is as gay as fuck if it comes from me! (hell, even my emoji's are gay (yes, you have access to them as well).

PS I have a cute gay boy giving me head as I type this. Seriously. He is insatiable and he said he is gayer than I am (I don't think so).
