having read so many reports and experiences on the forum, I decided it was time to share some of mine.
my last trip was in January 2020 prior to the Covid situation 
staying at the Nile Ritz Carlton, which is not as fun in terms of local guys as it once was. I'm planning a visit to the DR. While reading thorugh threads of the past 2 years for tips, I decided to organize the info for the benefit of all newbies. Therefore, the info below isn't based on personal experience; it's the combined product of forum members who've been there and are generous with their knowledge: TennisAce, SolaceSoul, Kevie, Riobard, NoGagSuck, and others (apologies for omitting important names). In a future post I'll summarize tips regarding accommodation and other non-sex issues.
Anyone with any first-hand experience in the DR is VERY MUCH encouraged to offer comments, additions, updates and especially corrections. In CAPITAL LETTERS I inserted questions and requests, but please don't limit yourself to these points.

Manny (1 809 353 9262) offers tourism services (guide, driver etc.), including gay hook-ups FP. When requested, he sends photos of boys on Whatsapp 2-3 weeks in advance.

I intended to spend in SD 5 nights, but one of the airlines outrageously cancelled a flight, so I stayed only 3.
I was in Whatsapp touch with Manny for a long time about tourism stuff. He answered my too many questions VERY patiently. Contrary to my intention, I decided not to rent a car-driver (for out-of-town sightseeing) from him or anyone else, because I was told by three different sources that gas prices make it way too expensive ($150 for 5 hours). Belatedly, on the way to my departure flight, the Uber driver checked it for me, and said it can be done for ‘only’ $80. I’ll think about it on my next visit.
I did reserve Manny for a 2,000 pesos ($40) airport-hotel transfer, despite a much cheaper option I was offered in TripAdvisor, because I wanted to talk with him about his guys. For departure I used Uber which costs only 700 pesos, so you understand how much Manny makes on naïve tourists.
 I stayed at the Boutique Palace hotel: great location; good hotel; very good wifi. $90 per night incl everything, late checkout till 6 pm - $20. When a guy comes to visit a guest in his room, receptionist takes his ID / cedula - no questions asked. There was one hiccup, on which I'll report later. Two annoyances: 
3 phones in the room, but lines in all the hotel are dead. Annoyed me only when I wanted a wake-up call.
More annoying - at all times of day have to wait at least 5 minutes for hot water, and even then it's not really hot (to the point you have to temp it down).
