I used to work for a French resort chain brand there for a while. If you're staying at a luxury resort island, the only people you'll really get to meet are other tourists. Staff at top-tier hotels won't risk their jobs by stepping into your room (with the exception of the entertainment and sports team at my previous resort) And also, most chain resorts have a very high percentage of foreign staff, not easy to find a hot maldivian culinary on a small resort island
