even when you manage to spell them correctly do you even remotely understand - or care - what the words you use actually mean? and I think it is always better to have a condom on rather than a purge! bkkguy

this had me ROTFL as it jars very strongly with my memory of your comments in you own forum about porn generally and Sawatdee's use of porn links specifically! bkkguy

key loggers are old hat - the latest malware grabs the data from the browser just before it is encrypted and transmitted so it does not matter how it was entered! bkkguy

my first experiences of songkran many years ago were water fights for one day, maybe 2 and be nice to people who were not out playing, and it was great fun! and even now I can put on some old clothes and grab a water gun and go out for a few hours and have some fun too (and the eye candy is great) but ... I live in a soi that has a few restaurants and shops and every one of them decides to "play songkran" on a different day and most "play" very aggressively, soaking people obviosuly not dressed to play, and even if you get through the soi you are on a main road that has a constatnt stream of people walking and pickups passing full of people throwing water and powder indiscriminatly and this goes on for 5 days from 11:00 am till 1:00 am and there is music blaring the whole time from the pickups or the shops so for 5 days you can't relax in your apartment and listen to music or TV and you can't get out to buy a newspaper or go to the supermarket or have lunch or dinner without getting soaked, and if you don't have a car there are rarely taxis coming through the soi so if you don't want to walk it is a motorcy taxi or a tuk tuk and you still get soaked, and even home delivery is a problem - the pizza guy last night almost crashed his mototcy coming down the soi when someone threw water straight in his face at what point in this 5 days of "fun" am I finally allowed to break down and say I hate songkran and not get called a boring old falung? bkkguy

I don't know, if you look at which bars have set up stalls on the beach area, which bars have been providing shows at the beach, and who was kowtowing to the mayor at the opening I don't think the Paradise venues are being sidelined by new kids on the block - just look at Boxer's pictures, it is the same tired old faces and same tired old concepts moved not very excitingly to the beach! bkkguy

does LMTU/Earwig have a new alias on another forum or is this another of those uncredited cut and pastes? http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...0entry1221984 Post by Paagai 2007-03-28 04:59:38 Chiang Mai list is disapointingly out of date too. I thought its time someone corrected this so the following is a current update to the original Chiang Mai content (March 2007) if its of interest to anyone. Info based on comments from friends (mainly Thai) and some personal knowledge: ..... bkkguy

I'll pass, I never was a shoe fetishist, even for children's shoes! though I am sure that is not the only reason to ignore this fishy place - and there are probably a few meore meanings for "sole" that we could include here to remind LMTU of the real meaning of the word! or perhaps he is trying to imply the boys there are tough as old leather and have no soul? bkkguy

AOL is well-known for blocking incoming mail from what it arbitrarily decides are spammer IP addresses - and it is quite common for local ISP mail servers and dynamically allocted IP addresses to be blacklisted you should generally get a delivery failure notification, check the details and discuss with true bkkguy

of course not, you just insult and denigrate anyone who does not agree with what you think is "fair and reasonable" where? I have questioned your dubious logic but never stipulated what was a reasonable tip and anyone who does not agree with you is dismissed as a "cheapskate" bkkguy
-
about the same thing that gives you the right to dictate tipping policy! If you wish to pay inflated prices to these boys, just to ease your conscience, so be it, but don't dictate to others there are so many pots and kettles around here we could open a kitchen utensils store! bkkguy

it makes as much sense for a typist to base his fees on overseas rates as it does for a bar boy to do the same! and does your clever little bar boy check the nationality/city of his customer and adjust the rates comapred to the going rate in the customers home city? and is he keeping up with exchange rate fluctuations daily? bkkguy
-
I know a typist in Bangkok who knows what typists in the west earn, but when she approached her boss for a raise he suggested that she could take the going rate in Thailand or apply for a job in the west - I suppose the bar boys are lucky to be dealing with more gullible people! next thing you know the taxi drivers will be demanding western rates as well - oh wait I forgot they already are in tourist areas, 200 baht being the average rate for a tuk-tuk to go a few blocks from Patpong. bkkguy

and how much has the average salary of a doorman or waiter or 7/11 sales staff gone up in the same period (or even a Thai teacher or public servent for that matter) - 100% like you are suggesting here? and baht bus fares for Thais? and noodles in the soi? and rent on Thai style rooms? falung teacher salaries? I don't know about Pattaya, but in Bangkok while the cost of drink or off in Soi Twilight has gone up substantially (as has the tip expectation of the boys) I don't know that I have seen a comsensurate increase in the basic barboy cost of living! bkkguy

do you usually have <CAPS LOCK> on or off while surfing? try turning it on - that should then give you 192KB which is probably the speed you are paying for! bkkguy

not bad for a bj - what are the cocktail prices like ;-) bkkguy

thanks for posting the full text wowpow - but surely a link would have been sufficient but having read the text you posted you must be aware that both this thread and your other thread with the plea for commonsense and politeness are off-topic for this forum and should be in the "Comments and Suggestions" forum - I hope the moderator will be deleting or moving them! I for one happily support the moderators deleting off-topic or unacceptable posts. earwig has claimed here and elsewhere that he posts illiterate messages deliberately just to annoy people - an attitude surely against common politeness and against the code of conduct here, so delete his messages he calls people stupid and negative when they cannot understand his posts, again definitely deserving of a delete he starts a thread with a subject of Babylon but his opening post has nothing to do with Babylon so is off-topic so delete it he starts a thread about Hot News but his opening post has no news so is off-topic so delete it he starts a thread about new 5 star gay hotels but his opening post has nothing to do with this so is off-topic so delete it etc, etc, etc so yes I support the call for more moderation here - it would save me making half my posts! bkkguy

and if you write meaningless unintelligible garbage others will see meaningless unintelligible garbage bkkguy

some local ISPs have multiple redundant links out of Thailand to many different locations in the USA, Asia and Europe, others are completely dependant on the links provided by CAT and are hence more affected also different international connections connect to the major backbones in the USA at different points and have different routes to the servers you are trying to reach and may be more or less affected by the congestion caused by the recent problems thus gaythailand.com may be slow for true adsl users but not loxinfo users while the reverse may be true for sawatdee forum etc bkkguy

earwig, exaggggggeeeerrrrrraaaaaatttttiiiiooonnnnn - surely you jest! he just wouldn't know one star from five if his life (or tattered reputation) depended on it! bkkguy

I've had my head bitten off here before for commenting on this, but the original poster asked for a "good hotel" and I would have to agree with Motel69 - there are no decent hotels in the area though I do admit there are a few reasonable guesthouses and Howards is one of them I know there is the simplistic dictionay definition of a hotel as a place where you pay for accommodation, but in the real world of travel and tourism there are more options and I still suffer from the delusion that most travellers - even those that read the forums - have different expections of a "guesthouse", a "tourist class hotel", a "5 * hotel", etc and I think recommending Howards as a "good hotel" is for more likely to cause disappointment then recommending it as a "nice guesthouse", but I am obviously in a minority of one - or perhaps two with Motel69! bkkguy

and you think others don't have a clue! if you read a news item on a few internet news sites and local newspapers and see it on some TV news broadcasts, then write a blog entry about the now widely know facts then nobody is going to accuse you of plagiarism - if however you reproduce one site's item verbatim, or include exclusive content from one site, or quote analysis and opinion from one or more sites without attribution then there is a good case for copyright infringement or plagiarism bkkguy

we are always being told to adapt "Thai ways" and respect "Thai culture" so I assume we should drop our "proud Anglo-Saxon legal tradition" - along with all the other "western" baggage and hangups we bring with us - at the immigration checkpoint! bkkguy

I think it leaves me convinced once again that you don't know what you are talking about! Freeman a "major success"? Yes! (in any of its many variations) a "major success"? Boys Bangkok (after the move) a "major success"? the flagship Dream Boys is the only one that comes close to a "major success" and even that is not going so well these days and didn't he complain the last time you splashed his name around the forums? bkkguy

not a lot because the quake was in Chiang Mai and only affected buildings at one small university! meanwhile in Bangkok we are still on high alert for tsunamis sweeping down the Chao Phraya. bkkguy
