Thailand's poster boy top cop Maj Gen "Big Joke" Surachet Hakpal - deputy commissioner of the tourist police - and Pol Maj Gen Pritthipong Prayoonsiri at Region 2 immigration have shaken hands on the deal that provided the new lane. Though they did not mention if this was in response to bad press after the boat accident in Phuket recently that saw many Chinese cancel their holidays. August 5, 20188 yr What they really need to move the game forward is more e-gates & some scheme to expand the use of these. Allow Asean plus all the nations that have visa exemption to use them. Or allow pre-registration. I suppose they just need some solution to the passport stamping, so surely the machine could issue a sticker, or mechanically stamp the passport. Or even have about 5 machines & one stamp monkey ?

August 6, 20188 yr probably due to still using the arrival and departure form they need an actual person to do the review probably true.... though they did discuss abolishing that stupid form altogether (now only abolished for Thai nationals) when it was redesigned but from what I read they kept it at the behest of the TAT to collect some (useless) statistics (which I'm sure they could get a hold of in a more efficient way).
August 6, 20188 yr If it's just the arrival forms, then all they need to do is allow people to fill these in on line and those who have done this should be allowed to use the electronic passport gates.
